589.0. "Quorum problem?" by ROMTSS::MATTACCHIONE () Thu Jan 30 1997 13:19

Hi,

after an hardware problem on the swrcx controller the two cluster nodes
are not enable to share the service.

If I attempt to start the cluster administrator the following error
is dislpayed:

The system cannot perform the request update because not enought
members are present (quorum).
The nature of this operation requires communication with other system, or
that a log disk be available.
Please check that: the other system is up and thError from
CliFmDiskGetlogDisk=-1056767963.

Then the two system are corrctly up and load correclty the hszdriver.
What I can do to repair the problem ?

Thanks in advance
Gabriele

You have a serious configuration problem here. I would suggest a complete
deinstall and reinstall.

Verify that the scsi bus is configured and terminated correctly. Verify that
the two machines can ping each other on the network.

Follow the installation instructions from the manual. Install #1. Install #2.
Reboot #1. Reboot #2. Then run cluster administrator.

Good luck.

	Are you trying to share off a SWXCR? That is not supported.

I've seen this occassionally. I well as I can remember, it disappeared as
mysteriously as it appeared. Of enough, I've done a lot of playing around
with the systems. But, de-installing, then re-installing always works for
me. I can vouch for the fact that you can get this message with supported
hardware.

  For what's it worth, management of the log disk has been improved
  somewhat so problems such as these are avoided.
