586.0. "NT-cluster support for Internet softwares" by HGOVC::CHRISTSANG () Thu Jan 30 1997 00:12

    Hello,

    We have a prospect who is interested in the NT Cluster product on
    two units of Alphaserver 1000A.

    They are trying to establish Internet services on the NT machines
    running TCP/IP.

    I would like to inquire on the followings :

    1. They are considering to use MS IIS as the Web server. Does Digital
    NT-Cluster support failover of the IIS server ?

    2. Does Digital NT-Cluster support failover of Internet mail server and
    mail gateway product, in particular the Ten Fours cc:Mail gateway
    product ?

    3. Does Digital NT-Cluster support failover of the AV Mail Server on NT
    and the AV cc:Mail gateway ?

    Please advise.

    Best regards
    Chris

    IIS failover is supported under V1.1, I have IIS failover running on my
    Alpha NT Cluster.

MS IIS Server supported ?

I think the support of IIS Server by NT Cluster V1.1 is explicitely stated
in this notesfile somewhere.

And it works for me.

586.3Problem w/ stopping FTP if directory is goneCIVPR1::SIMMONSMike Simmons (301) 918-5597Fri Mar 14 1997 03:438
I failover the FTP Publishing Service by including NET START and NET STOP
comamnds in the failover scripts and make the FTP Service start manually.
This is because if the home directory for FTP (on a cluster drive) is not
available when the FTP service starts, the service needs to be stopped and
restarted. I also found that if you try to stop the FTP service while one
of the specified directories is not available or does not exist, services.exe
will lock up for about 5 minutes. I've seen this even cause an unwanted
cluster failover.
