347.0. "Cancelled shows" by POBOX::SEIBERTR () Fri Mar 03 1995 10:12

Has anyone heard anything about shows which are going to be
cancelled? I read in another note that Bloosom is a goner.

There is a blurb in the new TV guide about what's going and what is
on the bubble. I don't have the magazine with me, but I remember a
little. NBC is in the best shape with their line up. One of the
shows that really surprised me was Lois and Clark (on the bubble), I
thought they were going good. Also, Touched by an Angel is on the
    bubble and Party of Five.

I will try to have better info tomorrow.

What does "on the bubble" mean? It's for sure going, or probably going?

Probably going. However, Party of Five has moved into the definetly
going catagory. I heard a commercial on the radio today saying tonight was the
last episode. I'll have better info tomorrow.

Ax Looms for Old Faves and Struggling Series:

Promising midseason shows and a strong fall lineup could force an
    end to several aging favorites.

ABC: "Has struggling comedies but they're good at developing sitcoms"
    says TV analyst Betsy Frank.
Bye Bye to: Full House, On Our Own, A Whole New Ballgame.
By a Thread: All American Girl, Day One, Lois and Clark, Me and the
Boys, My So Called Life, Sister Sister, Thunder Alley

CBS: "The schedule has to start from scratch," says Steve Sternberg
    of teh BJK&E Media Group.
Bye Bye to: Boys Are Back, Eye To Eye, The Five Mrs. Buchanans, Hearts
Afire, Love and War, Under Suspicion.
By a Thread: Double Rush, Northern Exposure, Touched By An Angel

NBC: Experts agree they need the least help.
Bye Bye to: Blossom, Empty Nest, Madman of the People, Something
    Wilder.
By a Thread: The Crosby Mysteries, The John Laroquette Show, Sweet
    Justice.

FOX: Strong pilots and midseason shows will bump some so-so series.
Bye Bye to: Dream On, MANTIS, Models Inc.
By a Thread: Party of Five

I guess I must watch NBC and Fox the most because I haven't heard
of many of CBS and ABC shows that are on the list. Models Inc
surprised me too because of all the hype I thought it was doing
great (I never did get to see it). Its always hard when an old
favorite goes....its like you have to rearrange your whole schedule
and get attached to something else!

Yeah! Party of 5 is safe! Whew, I'm glad you posted your note. I
like that show. A lot of memories generated when the topics brought
forth arre similar to what I felt in high school. Touching series.
Glad to see it made it.

I think that episode was meant to be the end of the line (or should I say
non-end :-))

TV Guide listed this show as the "last show of the series". Apparently the axe
fell long enough ago that TV Guide even had enough time to print it.

WHat about Lois and Clark... does by a thread mean definatly staying,
or they're still negotiating? (Praying its going to stay!!!)

347.12SHows on the Brink?NEMAIL::TARDUGNOMWed Apr 05 1995 16:3911
Lois and Clark are doing a little better in the ratings according to
Entertainment Weekly....I think its better than its ever been...
a little less stupidity in the plots...Lois and Clark are getting
friendlier (but from time-eternal all these shows with a so called
"romantic" overtone in it, has this back & forth, see-saw thing
relationship with its 2 main characters...like its so predictable)...
its like get on with it already..but I kinda like it so far as long as
they don't drag it out for the next 2 seasons the way Moonlighting
and a multitude of shows usually do..

Terry Hatcher and Dean Cain do have good on-screen chemistry together.

My daughter loves Full House and wanted me to tape the
farewell show last nite for her, and I FORGOT!... haven't told
her yet. Anyone out there tape it? If so, could I borrow?

(Should I admit that we watched this?!)

    Well,

Michelle is taking riding lessons and has just started jumping. After
the lesson she makes friends with another rider, Elizabeth. They hear
an announcement for the upcoming riding *competition*,
    <spoiler>
and Elizabeth's mom & Danny Tanner get into a huffy spat over whose kid
would win the jumping competition. Danny had told Michelle it was too
soon to compete, the formal outfit would be too expensive, etc., but
he's so indignant after arguing with the insufferable mom that he
decides to enter Michelle anyway (justifying the expense by "the money
I save sending you to public school" vs. Elizabeth's private school
    tuition).

The day of the competition, *everyone* has ringside seats, but
Elizabeth and Michelle don't like the pressure everyone's putting on
them so they decide to go for a trail ride instead. They tell no one,
of course, and in the course of jumping a very low log, Michelle falls
off her horse and is unconscious (despite her hard hat).

The Tanner clan catches up to her (amusing scene where an old geezer on
a bench says "I never thought I'd get to say this, but... they went
thataway!"). Next scene: hospital waiting room, Michelle has been
unconscious for hours; doctor comes out and says she's waking up. The
whole crowd presses forward; doctor says, "Just the immediate family."
The whole crowd presses forward :-) ; doctor says, "Just the parents."
Danny, Jesse and Joey go in!

Michelle has amnesia. I thought this was done pretty well; Michelle is
a little confused but not panicky, and she retains her personality
(rather than becoming some wacky sitcom alter-ego). She comes home
    after a day or so.

Everyone puts their lives on hold while she's recovering; eventually
she tells DJ off: "You're unhappy that you're missing your prom, I'm
unhappy that you're missing your prom; ONE of us should go to the
prom!" Becky takes DJ on a whirlwind dress-shopping errand (subplot on
prom is that Kimmy has been recruiting losers as potential dates for
DJ). When Kimmy arrives to pick up DJ, it turns out that the latest
loser couldn't make it--but instead, she somehow recruited DJ's old
    boyfriend (Matt?)!

That night, Michelle dreams [or really experiences :-} ] that someone
who looks just like her comes into her room and says she's Michelle's
memory; she was hiding because she was afraid, but she's back for good
now. They hug. Sniff! Wow, the twins FINALLY appear together on FH!

I think that's it... they showed the final curtain call, but there were
    no speeches :-(

Well the new prime time schedule is out for next season. Some good and bad
news for series that were in question:

Good news: Homicide, Lois and Clark, The Marshall are back.

Bad news: My So-Called Life, Northern Exposure, Under Suspicion, Earth 2
are gone.

Scheduling bad news: Murder One and ER are head to head, Pickett Fences and
X-Files are head to head, The Marshall is still at 8pm Monday.

All imo of course.
