483.0. "La Femme Nikita" by BUSY::SLAB (As you wish) Tue Jan 28 1997 14:27

Did anybody see "La Femme Nikita", the new weekly series that's on
USA last night? I believe it was the 1st episode.

Not bad. The premise is the same as the movie, but the basis for
the show appears that it will be more technological than the movie.
IE, more computer-oriented spywork than actual guns and bombs.

Who's playing the lead role for Nikita?

Sounds like it may be following the "Mission: Impossible" motif?

RE: .all

My wife and I are fans of both the original and the remake movies, and so
were looking forward to this. The pilot episode is pretty much a copy of
the movies, including the same "test" that they put her through on her
first assignment. But subsequent episodes have also been good, and we
are both planning to continue to watch this: after all, there is absolutely
nothing else any good at all on Monday at 10PM, IMHO.

But I had an interesting experience of which this show was a part. My
wife and I watched this, followed by Wiseguy on WGN at 11PM. We had the
exact same reaction to both shows: stunned awe at the staggering beauty
of the female leads. Peta Wilson and Joan Severance both in the same night!
We were quite impressed... (As always, IMHO)

Yes, Joan Severance is a babe.

Now I'm sorry that I missed the premiere episode of "La Femme
    	Nikita".

My wife and I have seen all three episodes so far. The stories after
the premiere were both pretty good, Peta Wilson is gorgeous, and as an
actress, not bad (unlike Severance, who gave "wooden" an all new
meaning). The fact that she doesn't particularly like her job, but
is compelled to do it, adds something, as does her next-door neighbor.
I'll wager we'll see more of her as the series continues.

One comment about Monday's show after a FF

I was SO happy that the bad guy at the end of the show didn't take
Michael's wife hostage. When he told her to stay under the stairs, my
wife and I said simultaneously "she's dead!". But how she died, and
her grabbing the bad guy instead of vice-versa, were nice plot twists
that I didn't expect. They didn't go for the easy way out, and that's
    encouraging.

If anyone hears that the premiere episode is going to be re-run,
could you let me know? I just happened to see some sort of ad
for it a few days ago so I didn't even know it existed until
    	this week. Thanks.

    	RE: Spoiler

Yeah, they could have milked the hostage thing for the entire run
of this series if they wanted. Good choice.

If you like Anne Parillaud, you should check out the movie "Innocent
    Blood".

More than a bit quirky, but I really enjoyed it. But I should mention
that I am a sucker for vampire flicks [no pun intended].

483.13And my wife likes this show more than I doTNPUBS::NAZZAROUMass is back - watch out NCAA!Wed Mar 12 1997 14:356
THis show keeps getting better as it flushes out the personalities of
the people in Nikita's life, as well as Nikita herself. Peta Wilson
has a look about her that is indescribable. Not really sexy, but
    seductive. She is great.

The latest episode was quite good ... one of the better ones, IMO.
But the endings to these shows are never very happy. In a way they
are, but in a way they're not, you know?

Also, if you did see the movie "Point of No Return", the premise
of the TV show is a bit different. In the movie, she was defin-
itely guilty ... they showed her shoot a policeman point-blank.
But in the TV show she happened upon a murder committed by a pol-
iceman and was set up for the crime.

Yeah, I thought that Michael should at least checked the Nurse's body
to be sure she was dead - they weren't running off to leave quickly.

Also, the Major(?) was the one giving all the best suggestions to find
Michael; seems he could have done less to actively hunt him if he were
really on Section 1's side. Suspect a triple-agent here. Wasn't he
the head vampire in Dark Knight or whatever that short-lived show was?

    Man...

Just saw Monday nights episode ("Mother")...

Section One is truly ruthless. I don't think I've ever seen anything
on a TV show quite like these guys...

My only other quib with the show is that the "Mother" looked awfully
"fine" for someone supposedly old enough to be Nikita's mother!

It was a repeat ... I'd seen it 1-2 months ago.

The "mother" had her when she was young, or so I understood ... and
Nikita is probably only about 25 herself. So the mother could very
well have been in her early 40's, and was rather attractive.

483.18Looked more like early early 30's to meGEMEVN::BLICKSTEINThe moment is a masterpieceThu May 15 1997 17:584
I should look that good when I'm forty (sigh... a few short months from
    now!)
