418.0. "Moonlighting" by BUSY::SLABOUNTY (JAFO) Mon Jan 08 1996 14:40

Bruce Willis, Cybil Shephard, Alyce Beaslee, Curtis Armstrong [in
    	later seasons].

You either loved this show or you hated it. Very zany stories,
some slapstick, characters talking to the camera, wisecracks,
etc. I, of course, loved it.

I happened to remember the "The man with the mole on his nose"
episode yesterday, and had to dig out the tape with that episode
on it [Lifetime had run this show for awhile, and maybe still
does, and I taped about 16 hours or so]. One of the funniest
episodes of ANY show that I've ever seen.

I liked everything except the last season. But up to that the episodes
were uniformly hilarious.

But my favorite was their affectionate take-off on Shakespeare's "The Taming
of the Shrew". They had excellent costumes, and the writing was as sharp
as ever:

Willis: My brother learned the piano, but I was forced to learn the lute,
and I always envied him for that.

Shepard: Ah-hah! At last, a man with pianist envy...

I think the Bard would have approved.

I would love to see repeats of this show - one of my favourite episodes
was the Rona Barrett one where she was interviewing everyone to find
out if Maddie or David were to blame for the current argument

Lifetime does run repeats of Moonlighting - usually on the
    weekends (check the guide).

My favorite was also The Taming of the Shrew episode.
