Me thinks you fell asleep within the first 1/2 hour. Unlike
most 100th/200th type episodes, it wasn't a just collection of
clips from previous shows. In this case the 1st 1/2 hour was,
but the 2nd 1/2 hour was the actual "200th episode" (ie. a brand
new episode).
> Anybody know what year this long running comedy started. Was it
> 1986, I missed that point?
The first year they showed when they started showing clips was 1987
so I'm guessing that was the first year the show ran. Ed O'Neil
was briefly interviewed and mentioned that MWC was the 1st FOX
show, so it would also be whatever year FOX went on the air....

| The last episode aired a few weeks ago. quick summary after formfeed
I'll preface by saying I usually don't watch this show, but have caught
an occassional late-night rerun of previous season episodes, so I'm not
up on current happenings.
Generally ok episode. I haven't been a big fan, so don't know how it
rates with others. There were no good-byes or on-camera/after the fact
scenes. Considering how long it's been on, I thought that odd.
spoilers of end episode
Kelly's boyfriend gets out of jail and proposes marriage. Give's kelly
a big ring - peg and Kelly remark over what a wonderful cubic zurconium
(SP?) it is when the female next door neighbor figures out it's real
and several carats. In the meantime Al objects until he finds out the
guy is the heir to a wealthy family (I forget what they do - but cheese
or some other type of food). Wedding is planned. during the bridal
shower kelly gets a variety of gifts (kitchen stuff) and has no idea
what they are. A large colender ends up one her head when she figures
it a hat. Then one night before the wedding, Al and friends are out at
a strip joint and run into the fiance, with a variety of strippers
hanging off him. Al gives him grief for being there before the wedding
and when the kid points out that Al's there, Al's comeback is something
to the affect that he's been married for xxx years and has earned the
right. Sends fiance away.
At the wedding, Bud asks the family if they have any daughters - yes -
he figures he'll marry well too, but then meets the daughter, shorter
than him, weighing quite a bit more and ready to lasso and hogtie him.
The rest of the episode has him trying to hide from her with various
pieces of his clothing torn off. Wedding is about to start when the
groom while inside the house alone with the next door neighbor makes a
pass at her. She fends him off, goes outside, sits with her husband (is
he still her husband) tells him, he tells someone else, etc. It passes
down the line of guest until peg/al hear. Al stops the wedding. kelly
is upset until the groom admits he made a pass and why should getting
married make any difference. Find out his folks also agree with this
and that he's been married at least 2 maybe 3 times before this. Al
makes a speech about even though marriage is awful (and his usual
complaints) but Bundy's still with it,no matter how awful and painful
it is. And his little girl deserves better. Wedding called off. Fiance
and family leave. Bud weighs whether the money is worth the sister,
decides no. Kelly is comforted first by family but then by all her "ex"
boyfriends who've shown up at the wedding, making up most of the
"bride's" side of the aisle (weeping).
