327.0. "New Networks (UPN, WB)" by WMOIS::LYONS_S () Sat Jan 07 1995 08:03

I'm not sure if I actually should have started a new note on this
subject or if I should have included it in the CBS/NBC topic, so
Moderator, please feel free to move if you deem fit.

Is anyone confused as I am over the new networks that are supposed to
be starting soon. And actually, are they networks or considered
something else. For instance, I have seen ads for the new Star Trek
spin-off Voyager on TV38 but yet the show is being advertised as going
to air on UPN (United Paramount Network) or something like that. I
have also seen advertisements on one station about a WB (Warner
    Brothers) network, is this true?

This on top of the CBS/NBC, 7/4 swap is going to take time to get use
    to.

The success of the Fox network has apparently encouraged Paramount and Werner
to try their own networks. Paramount is going ahead and is lining up affiliates.

In the Boston area it will be TV38. They were formerly independent except for
their participation in the TV38 Red Sox network which really behaved more like
syndication than a network.

UPN and WB TV are new networks, spouting new shows and line-ups. In
Los Angeles UPN is channel 13, WB is channel 5. At least they are this
week. But from the sound of some previous notes, they may change
    things on me!!!!!! Whoooo!
