HBO will be airing a Barbra Streisand special (culled from a couple of
her recent shows) 21-Aug, 9-11PM.

This week's issue of TV Guide has a well written article, on what an
enormous undertaking this was, because of Streisand's demand for
perfection and the sheer logistics of recreating a studio sound.
The concerts were taped on separate nights in Las Vegas and L.A.
and the editing was done during the tour.

I did watch it, and it was truly an unforgettable concert. Some of the
highlights (imho):
A duet from "Guys And Dolls with the screen version of Marlon Brando.
A duet from "Yentl" with a screen version of herself.
Her solo (sans Neil Diamond) version of "You Don't Bring Me Flowers".
She stayed pretty close to the American Songbook, (no Disco or Rock
tunes)
She looked great (is she really 52 ?) and she sounded great.
This will probably wind up on Video after it wins a bunch of Emmys.

Very well done!! She had a lead-in to every song and the whole
'production' just flowed perfectly.
