283.0. "SHE TV" by DELNI::DISMUKE () Thu Aug 18 1994 03:10

Did anyone catch this last night? I saw one preview and was not at all
interested. Can anyone give a recap of what it was like?

I saw bits and pieces of it, but what I saw was pretty funny. The opening
sequence with Janet Reno, the "What do women want" game show, the aria by the
two strippers, all were funnier than I expected for a summer replacement show.
I didn't think the Baqitta interview with Al Gore went anywhere, though.

But one thing that impressed me: the commercials. Kim Alexis did an ad for
Hemorid (a hemorrhoid medicine) and the singer from the movie "The Bodyguard"
(I am blanking on her name) did an ad for something or other. These two people
have never done commericals before to my knowledge, and they have not done
*these* commercials anywhere else to my knowledge, and I found it coincidental
that they would intro them on this show. Interesting.

You hit the funny ones for sure. I thought the Rush Limbaugh pieces
   were funny also.

Didn't Whitney also do some Diet Coke adds when she first got
    popular?

I haven't watched SNL for a while, but I think She TV had a far better
hit-to-miss ratio. We'll see how well they can sustain it.

I don't think we'll watch it again, but their spoof of NYPD Blue was sure "on"
-- we chuckled a lot! ("Are you OK?")

They seem to 'pick on' NYPD Blue quite a bit. The three times I've
watched the show it had some sort of spoof on it.

I like the quickness of the skits, the terrible ones aren't painfully
drawn out and the good ones leave ya wanting more still
    chuckling.....kinda like the old SNL

The skits about "famous women" is good, I like the mix of true facts
with twisted commentary from the special guests.

I think they're "picking" on NYPD Blue because they're currently in
    NYPD's timeslot.
