260.0. "The Substitute Wife - TV movie" by SSGV01::GRANT (Margo DTN 264-3705) Wed May 25 1994 06:59

Did anyone else catch this one? The female characters seemed aptly cast, but
I couldn't quite related to Peter Weller as the husband (thought that Chris
Walken did the marriageable "bachelor" role better). My husband got into this
movie along the way, to my surprise; we actually ended up taping a new
"Northern Exposure" to stick with it to the end!

I usually don't watch Movie Of The Weeks but this one caught my eye as
I was channeling surfing and I stuck with it. I did switch over to the
Comedy Awards but I find it painful to watch/listen to the acceptance
    speechs...anyway

Farrah dear, you've surprised me again.....I thought she did a fine job
of playing an over the hill whore, though the speach at the brothel
when her and Leah were leaving seemed a bit much, I liked the movie.

I knew when everyone was happy and all was worked out and it was only
10:45 p.m. that leah's character would have a relapse bit all in all -
neat concept, interesting storie and the female leads were wonderful.

Well, I enjoyed it and it seemed believable up until the last half
hour or so. I found it hard to believe that the wife would be dying
one minute, then up and jumping around the yard the next minute -
especially in those days where there was no such thing as radiation
and chemo treatments to put her in remission.

Then when the wife came up with the plan to share the husband
sexually - give me a break. I could understand it when she thought
she was dying and couldn't give her husband the affection he needed -
but at that time, she thought she was going to live, and she planned
to live with that arrangement for the rest of their married days.

The part that really turned me off was when they invited Farrah into
their bed - granted, they probably didn't do anything - but still...
it was way too much for me. (IMHO)

I wasn't surpirsed they invited the 2nd wife into their bed - I was
surprised when they showed Farrah *between* them....for some reason I
pictured the lucky hubby to be between them.
