I use to watch all the older Columbo shows and I still catch a lot of
the reruns but I haven't watched many of the MOTW Columbos.

I love his style - or some would say - lack there of :^} and quite a
few of the snippets from his shows are stuck in my mind.

I also enjoyed the way the writers had him stalking about his wife,
making her out to be a warm sensitive yet intelligent person who
sometimes helped him solve a case

New "Columbo" on tonight ... ABC [channel 12 - Providence RI],
    	9PM.

And A&E [cable station] is running 14 hours worth of "Columbo"
episodes throughout the week ... the 1st 2 being from 2-5 this
    	afternoon.

212.6BUSY::SLABOUNTYTrouble with a capital 'T'Mon Jun 26 1995 16:158

A&E will have an 11-hour "Columbo" marathon on July 4th. Not sure
of start/end times nor the length of episodes yet.

I was off last week and happened to catch a 2-hour episode that
was directed by Nicholas Colasantro ["Coach" from "Cheers"].

I saw one Monday that was directed by Steven Spielberg.

The bad guy was Jack Cassidy, the 3rd time I've seen him play
    	a "Columbo" bad guy.

I've noticed 2 repeating guest stars so far:

    	Jack Cassidy [3]
    	William Shatner [2]

And if I'm boring you with all this useless info, let me know
and I might stop. But probably not. 8^)

But I DO like watching "older" shows and trying to pick out the
stars of today from when they were either in their prime or just
starting out in whatever roles they could get.

Looks like "Columbo" is also on Sunday nights at 9PM on The
Family Channel ... last night's was one I hadn't seen yet
["Columbo Goes to College"]. East coast, anyways.

And Robert Culp finally co-stars as something other than a
    	suspect.

It's from 1993, co-starring Faye Dunaway and Claudia Christian.
    	"It's All in the Game".

There's also the weekly "Columbo" Sunday Night Movie on FAM,
from 1992, co-starring Joanna Going and Thomas Calabro. "No

Well, the Columbia House Video Library apparently had me in
mind when they decided to add "Columbo" to their choices, so
I went ahead and signed up for the set. I can cancel at any
time, so I definitely don't have to buy them all.

But yesterday I receieved, as I figured, the pilot episode
titled "Diagnosis: Murder" from 1968. Of course, I had to
watch it last night since I've never seen it before, and I
have to say it's very possibly the best of them all. And I
hope that the next 1 is the 2nd episode, or the "2nd pilot"
from 1972 or so, which I also haven't seen yet. Then I can
cancel, which will be a total cost of about $30 for both
    	episodes.

I just watched that episode a couple of weeks ago and have to disagree
about it being the best. Columbo couldn't break the case on the
evidence and only got the murderer because of the girlfriend. Later
shows refined the story lines to the point of having clever deductive
reasoning by Columbo. Sadly, the last few episodes must of run out of
    good ideas.

This was the 1st of a few instances of "beat him at his own

I prefer this method to his "conveniently finding clues to
easily deduce the identity of the suspect".
