59.0. "The Untouchables" by VMSSG::KILLORAN () Tue Jan 26 1993 05:28

Has anyone else seen this show? We watched it
last night and I thought it was good. Though
I have always been an Elliot Ness fan.

The woman that plays Mrs. Ness used to play
    Kay on Reasonable Doubts.

Is this a remake of the original "Untouchables" series or is it a
repeat of the original. The original series would be hard to beat - it
was a real blockbuster as TV series go.

I like this show. The actors that play Copone and Ness are great. Good
    cast and everything else.

This is a new show and it has quality. The cast is
great, the scenes around Chicago are good as well.

E Grace, I cannot remember "Kay's" name either? But
you know who I am talking about. The sad part is I
did not recognize her until they showed a bed scene
with her and Elliot Ness. Then it clicked since she
always seemed to end up there with "Dickie" on
    Reasonable Doubts ;-).

Oh! For some reason I was thinking of *KAY LENZ*!

That was what was confusing me!

Kay was the woman who owned the bar, right?

59.6VMSSG::KILLORANTue Jan 26 1993 10:3410

Yes, she inherited the bar when her father died and
was Dickie's on and off again girlfriend.

There was a storyline last year of her rape case.

    Now back to the untouchables.

For those who remember, could someone please give an idea of what
the original "Untouchables" show was like. I was quite youg during its
run on ABC from '59 to '63. All I really know about the show was that
    Robert Stack played Elliot Ness.
Who played the other agents ? Were the names of the other agents
the same as the new series ? Who played Al Capone, Frank Nitti, Bugs
Moran ? Were the plots similar ?
BTW, the new series is the one TV show I try never to miss.

     Thanks

Sorry I don't remember the other characters but they were not really all that
important. As you said, Robert Stack played Elliot Ness. He was the main
character and he was in just about every scene that involved any of the
untouchables. They tended to move around in a large group following Ness.

It was pretty straight cops and robbers with Ness being a super clean cut
figure common for the time. No moral confusion, it was always obvious who were
the good guys and who were the bad guys.

Imagine Hawaii 5-0 set in Chicago. In fact, Hawaii 5-0 was probably the
Untouchables set in Hawaii with the minor characters a little bit more defined,
mostly due to McGarrit's "Book'em Dano".

I guess the 2nd biggest difference was that Hawaii 5-0 was in color and the
Untouchables were in black and white.
