1214.0. "Random Acts of Kindness" by ADISSW::HAECK (Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!) Mon Jan 29 1996 01:23

Today my priest preached on the beatitudes. One of her themes was that we
should gossip the good news to everyone. That news to include the little
things in life which reflect goodness. I would like to initiate a recording
of such things here.

Today I was stuck behind someone one in the parking lot. I was getting
annoyed. Finally someone got out of the passenger seat and retrieved a
wallet from the lane. OK, I thought, that's OK. But they didn't move.
Minutes passed and then the passenger got out an went into the store. I
assume to return the wallet. I was struck both with my inclination to jump
to the lowest conclusion about these people who were blocking my way, and by
their honesty in returning the wallet.

My fifteen year old son still tells his mother and me, spontaneously and
without prompting, that he loves us despite the social pressures at his
age to distance himself from his parents.

My youngest (as well as all of my sons for that matter) tells me he
loves me everytime we part, even with all the struggles he is going
through right now. I hope he never stops.

Jim, with all your doing for him, I can't see how it could change.
