It's very difficult work. Some of the people are so ill (mentally). But almost all the guests are appreciative of the work done by their hosts. /john | |||||

1166.1 Thank you, John. I've eaten at the local soup kitchen on several occasions. I, too, believe the people who dine there are grateful for a hot meal, perhaps the one real meal of the day. And yes, many are besieged by mental illness. I took my family to eat our Christmas meal at the soup kitchen one year. What a contrast it was to our all too customary consumer-oriented holiday habits. Oh, there was plenty of turkey and all the traditional trimmings. There were plenty of smiles and warm greetings.
