1114.0. "Condemnation/Deliverance/Atonement/Judgment" by LUDWIG::BARBIERI () Thu Jul 20 1995 12:56

This topic is for a discussion of the following...

Condemnation - Of what are we condemned?

Deliverance - How are we delivered from what we are condemned?

Atonement - How does the Atonement figure into all this?

Judgment - How does the judgment figure into all this?

Richard, could you or someone else perhaps move the replies not
related to OSAS over to here? Thanks!

    Hoping for scriptural presentations here.

1114.2John 17:3 knowledge is vital.RDGENG::YERKESSbring me sunshine in your smileWed Jul 26 1995 14:4560

    re .0

    Tony,

This is a vital topic, for knowledge of the one God sent forth is
a prerequisite for everlasting life (compare John 17:3)

Now some succinct comments to your questions, please feel if you
would like me to expand a little...

Condemation - all are condemned to sin and death. Adam at one time
had the hope of everlating life set before him, including his wife
and resultant offspring. However, as we know from the Bible account
Adam sinned and thus left this inheritance of sin for his offspring.
"That is why, just through one man sin entered into the world and
death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they
had all sinned." Romans 5:12 NWT It is an understatement to say that
'Adam has a lot to answer for'.

Atonement - has the basic thought of "cover" or "exchange". Jehovah
God will not forfeit his righteous standards to help mankind out
of their predicament. Jehovah's standard is "like for like"
(Deuteronomy 19:21), hence the sin offering would have to have the
precise value of a perfect human life.

Deliverance - no man could redeem himself or others due to his condition
(Psalms 49:7). Hence, through his love, Jehovah sent His Son to deliver
mankind......."Just as the Son of man came, not to be ministered to,
but to minister and to give his soul a ransom in exchange for many."
Matthew 10:28 NWT. In turn one needs to apply faith in this provision
that God has given for diliverance ... "For God loved the world so much
that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising
faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life." John
3:16 NWT (btw I am aware that other translations use the word "believe"
    rather than "excercising faith").

Judgment - This is against this system and organisations rather than
individuals. For example, take Babylon the Great, now Revelation 18:4NWT
states "Get out of her, my people, if YOU do not want to share with
her in her sins, and if YOU do not want to receive part of her
plagues." Later we find in verse 24, one of the reasons why "Yes, in
her was found the blood of prophets and the holy ones and of of those
who have been slaughtered on the earth." This organisation is
reprehensible for it is bloodguilty, those that stick to such an
organisation share with her plagues. A study, shows that Babylon the
Great pictures false religion as a whole. False religion will be
cleared out of the way, for Isaiah prophesied "They will not do any
harm or cause any ruin in all my holy mountain, because the earth will
certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the water are
covering the very sea." Isaiah 11:9 NWT Just think what it would be
like, if there were no religious wars, divisions or contentions all
in unity and peace in their worship of God.

      Hi Phil,

Well, someone has shown some interest!

I'll summarize my present views and post them hopefully
by the end of the week.

    						God Bless,
