1021.0. "I wonder as I wander...." by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (Unquenchable fire) Thu Dec 22 1994 02:08

Is it me, or does it seem just a little odd to enjoy Christmas carols sung
by Neil Diamond (which incidentally, I do)?

Is it me, or does it seem just a little strange to see Amy Grant boosting
Target stores on Christmas TV commercials?

Is it me, or does it seem just a little disconcerting that retailers are
reporting sales this Christmas season are up while the Salvation Army reports
giving is down (compared to last year)?

Peace on earth,
Richard

I'll admit that this one bothers me..as does the apparant "mainstreamism" of
Amy Grant.

Also disconcerting to me, particularly since many retailers have used
a (mis) interpretation of a Supreme Court ruling to boot the Salvation
Army out of malls/stores, etc..one of the talk stations in Boston did
a show on this last week blasting mall/store owners..interesting how many
comments came from shoppers who were "irritated" by the ringing bells of
 the SA people.

It's almost as irritating as a nagging conscience.

Is it me, or does it seem almost anti-Christmas to have the video game
"Mortal Kombat" top many youngster's wish list.

Anti Christmas and Anti-Human in my book..I refused to buy either version
for my kids, though my ex ignoring my wishes bought them. I also refuse to
buy them Heavy Metal music CD's, particularly ones my eldest wanted..violent,
   horrible and IMO Satanic.

Tonight as I went to the grocery store, there was a man with a salvation
army bucket and for the first time I've seen this year, a bell. In fact
as I thought, it was the first time in quite a few years that I recall
hearing the bell, and as I walked I remembered as a child my grandmother
would take me to San Francisco (we lived a bit south of there) and we'd
go to the dept stores (pre malls) and one could hear the bells all over
the place...it was a pleasant memory.

 Merry Christmas, all...
