My pastor walked up to me a couple weeks ago and asked if I'd mind giving
a couple a ride home..no problem said I, and I gathered them up after church
and off we went. The man, Ron, is blind and his wife is, about 3-4 feet tall
thus neither of them is able to drive. So, we arrived at their apartment and
they invited me in. Ron plays piano quite well. I've heard him play at
church once or twice and somehow we never really got acquainted, perhaps because
my ushering duties have me busy in another part of the building.

Anyhow, I sat and visited with them for a bit, and Ron played some for me..he
played "The Old Rugged Cross, Kneel at the Cross and There's room at the Cross
for You" and that gave me goosebumps and tears..Last monday night I went to
visit intending to stay an hour or so as I had some stuff to do around the
apt. But, I couldn't leave. Ron and I share musical tastes (Western Swing,
bluegrass and gospel) and we sat and shared stories and Ron started pulling
out old country gospel records of his that again brought goosebumps and tears.
one of the records had an interview with the man that wrote "the old rugged
Cross"..

I spent some time tonight with Ron and his wife at our church mission conference
banquet and I am coming to love this man and his wife very much..his life story
brings goosebumps, and seeing the love this man has for the Lord does likewise.

I praise God for the night the preacher asked me to drive them home.

748.2Passionate music, poignant wordsCSC32::J_CHRISTIEPacifist HellcatSat Oct 23 1993 23:549
Beautiful music, for me also, tends to bring on a GBE. Penetrating words,
something that stikes a sympathetic chord deep within me, will also give me
a GBE.

When they're in combination, look out. I can't hear "Sunrise, Sunset" from
"Fiddler on the Roof" without having a GBE.

Peace,
Richard

Ditto on the Sunrise Sunset song. Very moving.

I get the GBE when I hear Sandy Patti's "More Than Wonderful" tape.
Particularly the songs, "We Shall Behold Him", "More Than Wonderful",
    and "Upon This Rock".

Johann Sabastian Bach once stated that music was created none other than
for the Glory of God and the refreshment of the human spirit. How
    true!!

748.4yup; several goosebumps here!DLO15::FRANCEYMon Oct 25 1993 22:1813
Yup; just had one with the "laying on of hands". This was done in a
way (our request) that included the laying on of hands by all people
withihng the congregation. Dot and I first held hands and then the
Rev. Dr. George Peters called for God's presence and for the Spirit t
flow through all to us. George declared us to be ordained into the
    Christian ministry.

    Yup; goosebumps all over.

    	Shalom,

Based on a conversation I was having with someone I recall my first
real GBE..standing in a grove of redwood trees in Muir Woods in the
San Francisco Bay Area, I came to the realization that yes, there is
 a God.
