675.0. "What I've learned from CHRISTIAN-PERSPECTIVE (SRO)" by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (Declare Peace!) Tue May 11 1993 22:16

In an attempt to forego debate, I'm requesting this string to be SRO,
    supportive replies only.

I've learned that some interesting people share my views.

I belive that to me...this file is as important as attending a church
service. The views stated and the resulting discussions have greatly
shaped my own beliefs. I am still growing and maturing (hopefully!).

As long as I am at DEC, I will continue to participate here.

I've learned that I argue too much. :-)

I have learned alot from this conference. Mainly that there are many
issues we can change our opinion on without compromising the doctrine
we adhere to, e.g. separation of church and state, reciting the pledge,
nationalism, etc. Christian offers likemindedness to me but C-P offers
an element of challenge I feel can be healthy as long as people's
    feelings don't get hurt.

I have learned a great deal from CHRISTIAN-PERSPECTIVE from having
participated for, lo, these 2.75 years.

I've learned that I can speak my heart and mind, and if what I say
doesn't ring true for someone else, my whole world won't be shattered. I've
learned that not everybody will have the same experience under the the same
circumstances.

I've had confirmed for me that men (in particular) have more difficulty
with matters they consider outside the realm of the cerebral; that is, not
based in reasoning. Men also tend to devalue the same. Ironically, as
rational as men like to think they are, men do tend to react very strongly
out of emotion.

I've learned that I can apologize without losing face; at least,
not entirely.

Peace,
Richard
