670.0. "If God talked to you, what would you ..." by STUDIO::GUTIERREZ (Citizen of the Cosmos) Thu May 06 1993 19:18

This is a hypothetical question because I don't believe that
God is someone you can talk to like a person, so putting aside
our differences of opinion as to what God is, just imagine for
a moment that when I say God you interpret your own meaning of
    	God.

    	The question is:

If God talked to you and He granted you the privilege of
answering your questions, what would you ask Him ?.

If God talked to me, I would ask Him why He didn't make karma to
work instantly, that way we would know without a doubt that what
we get is the result of our own actions and not God's punishment
	like many people think.

1. Exactly what was the point of my first marriage, if there was any?

2. Exactly what was the point of sticking me with this body, if there
   was any?

3. How come you never healed me when I asked you to?

1. About the camel and the eye of a needle, did you realize that that's
   a mixed metaphor?

2. When you said, "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is
pleased to give you the Kingdom. Sell all your belongings and give
the money to the poor. Provide for yourselves purses that don't wear
out, and save your riches in heaven, where they will never decrease,
because no thief can get to them, and no moth can destroy them. For
your heart will always be where your riches are," how many of us did
you actually expect to carry out these instructions?

3. So, what's there to do for all eternity?

Brussel sprouts. Uh,...Are we really supposed to *like* these things?

Avocados. Could you explain the pit design here?

Not surprisingly, I disagree with Richard here as well.

Brussels Sprouts are excellent, especially when steamed or stir-fried.

Dear God,

I don't have a problem with some folks liking those li'l sprout critters.
So, I'm glad you included them among the edibles here for the sake of folks
who enjoy 'em. And I'm hoping you didn't take that crack about the Brussel
sprouts too seriously.

And, as you know, I happen to like pork brains, squid, horseradish and tongue.
I certainly wouldn't expect everyone to share my particular culinary tastes.

Thank you, Lord, for the rich diversity you've given us.

Your servant,
Richard

Scrapple? I thought they only ate scrapple in Pennsylvania.

As for Brussels Sprouts, I have eaten them. As a child I once saw an
episode of "Leave it to Beaver" in which Beaver hated them, and that
was all the convincing I needed not to try them. I am 33 years old,
and I *still* have never eaten a Brussels Sprout.

This is from a song I like, but it's applicable here:

Does He still feel the nails everytime I fail?
Does He hear the crowd cry "Crucify" again?
Am I causing Him pain? Then I know I have to change.
I just can't stand the thought of hurting Him.

 An extension to -1

I'd also like to see the folks that have been praying for me over the last
few years as I fell away, and those whom God tossed in my path during that
 time that planted little seeds.

I think I would ask God if my existence has made the world a better
place than it would have had I not existed--or if it has made it a
worse place--or if it has been a draw.
