592.0. "Promises - Promises!!" by CSTEAM::MARTIN () Wed Jan 27 1993 19:57

Hello Folks:

Per the view of a Christian Perspective, I feel it important as believers to
keep informed of every way your money is being spent and every way You are
being represented. Little ole me will do my part by adding this valuable
contribution.

We were told that if Bill Clinton is in office, he will provide healthcare
for everyone. He will see to it that high-paying jobs are widely available
and that no working family falls below the poverty line. He will wipe out
adult illiteracy in five years. He will guarantee all Americans a college
education or two years vocational training. He will protect the environment
and workers rights without costing business growth. He will cut the Federal
deficit in half within the next four years - without raising taxes on the
middle class. It's a beautiful thing!

To keep you informed, the next 2 replies will be an "at your fingertips"
document of just how our commander and chief is doing over the next four years.
I think this is important as perhaps we, the electorate, can make an informed
decision based on a track record and not media hype.

May this be a testimonial for the future so that we can make informed decisions.

Warmly,

Jack

Lemme see. I suppose in all fairness we should also point out that:

	Bush never broke a promise.

Neither Reagan nor his staff ever stated a falsehood or carried out
	any illegal activity.

And Nixon was not a crook.

    Richard,

I don't think Jack is saying that at all. But shouldn't a man be as
good as his word? The press constantly kept a check list on Bush, so
this is nothing new. Why shouldn't we keep a close eye on our highest
government office? Why shouldn't we keep a report card for ourselves?
What's the harm? Seems like it's something everyone would want to do.
It keeps us interested in the process. That's a plus as far as I'm
    concerned.

Perhaps, not. I'm a poor judge in such matters. Time will tell.

	Richard,

Bill Clinton has an opportunity to show that he will not break his
campaign promises as did his predecessors per his own statement during the
campaign.

I should think every person who voted for him on those terms would be
proud to have his promises posted so that they could show that their
candidate is as good as his word.

Surely you don't object on everybody seeing what a great choice
you made, do you? 8*) 8*)

Now that there's only 3 yrs 51 weeks left in the Clinton presidency how
would you rate his administration, in retrospect :^)

My honest opinion (and I do stress the word opinion) is that Clinton
was somewhat disingenuous throughout the campaign; however, I do
believe in giving him a chance.

If you do however find most of these promises broken and you find the
economy in shambles, it is not Clintons fault. The blame falls upon
the electorate as they are the ones with the voting power. They were
deceived and the pathetic part about it was that Clinton did a less
than adequate job of doing this...and we fell for it!

Incidentally, the list is given respectfully by the EIB Network (Rush).

How would I rate his administration? Well, if we have to have it, I
would have preferred Gore/Clinton and not Clinton/Rodham/Gore. I give
a yawn to his appointees and find the ghost of Jimmy looming in the
cabinet along with the expensive lobbyists like Ron Brown and others.

>>Lemme see. I suppose in all fairness we should also point out that:

	>>Bush never broke a promise.

Well, let that be a lesson to the electorate that tax increases do
not cut the deficit and stagnate the economy!

	>>Neither Reagan nor his staff ever stated a falsehood or carried out
	>>any illegal activity.

Of course they did and that goes back to the sin nature. The
electorate sees the 80's as the strongest point of growth in
years so unfortunately, Iran/Contra takes a back seat!

	>>And Nixon was not a crook.

Considering the fact that George McGovern was the alternative,
I consider Nixon to be a hero!

I was not a big fan of Clinton for a whole host of reasons, and even
though I voted for him, I did so with some reluctance. I am hopeful
that he will be a good President, and I am rooting for him to do well,
but at the same time I have several major reservations, and I will not
hesitate to criticize him when I think he merits criticism. I already
see some troublesome aspects to his Presidency.
