243.0. "Sign-in 1992 WDW Visitors" by TOKLAS::feldman (Larix decidua, var. decify) Sun Feb 03 1991 18:11

I gather I'm not the only one planning ahead to next year, so it must be time
for a 1992 sign in note.

Trip 1:

Who: Myself, my nephew (just before his fifth birthday), and my mother
When: Sometime next January or February
Where: TBD I'll probably get an annual pass for the year, and hunt around for
the best onsite deal.
How: TBD
Last Trip: May 90 for me; my mother is there right now, my nephew has yet to
visit (but his parents may squeeze in a trip this year)
Reason: Probably the last chance for me to take my younge nephew there during the
off season, before he enters school.

Trip 2:
Who: Lots and lots of science fiction and fantasy fans
When: Around Labor Day weekend
Where: TBD Either on site, cramming as many people as possible into a room or
suite, or in a rent-a-condo off site.
How: TBD
Reason: The 1992 World Science Fiction Convention is being held in Orlando, over
Labor Day weekend (or perhaps it's the weekend before). Expect to see a fair
number of SF&F fans at the parks before and after the convention. Expect to
see them at the various dinner theaters and cheap food places during the
convention.

	Who: Stan and Annie Lund
	When: March 26th-April 5th, 1992, (maybe starting the 24th or 25th)
Where: CBR, might change, but definitely on property
	How: TBD
	Last Trips : May 1990, Sep 1985, Mar 1984
	Reason : 15th Anniversary!

We're planning on getting annual passes, to allow us to go in
	all days we are there.
243.3Disneyworld in 92!DEMSUP::MACDONALDHas ELVIS been seen at WDW???Tue Mar 05 1991 18:1823
WHO: Mark, Ann, Heather, and Matthew MacDonald
(along with my brother in law, his wife, and their 4 children. This
will be the third time we've vacationed together at WDW)

	WHEN: April 17 thru May 1 1992
(these are the Ma. and NH school vacation weeks)

WHERE: VISTANA RESORT!!! (The ONLY way to go, we
always get 2 units for the two weeks, and arrange with Vistana
to give us adjacent units close to the super pool etc.)

HOW: Undecided, probably air, but have driven down the
		last two trips

LAST TRIPS: Thanksgiving '89 for two weeks, Feb '87 for 1 week

REASON: Whatelse, it's FUN! Plus our son was only 4 months old
the last time, there's always something new to see, the
"same old stuff" is great, and as the kids get older they
appreciate different aspects [like EPCOT] more!

Who: Viv and Bill Thompson and My Wifes Mom and Dad.

doing it from an 34ft PaceArrow motorhome based out of Fort Summit.

    to 18th.

243.2April '92 - revisedSALEM::BERUBE_CGGoooodd MMoorrnniinngg WDW!!!Wed May 22 1991 17:148
Who: Elaine, Claude and Gregory Berube
    When: Apr 25th - May 3rd, 1992
Where: Port Orleans (doing a $99 quite landscape room)
How: Air, most likely from Manchester NH
Last trips: Apr '77, Nov '82, Apr '84 (Treehouse Villa), Apr '87
                (Disney Inn)
Reason: 15th Wedding Anniversary and WDW's 20th Birthday Celebration!
243.5We earned it!SALEM::PAGLIARULO_GReality is a cosmic hunchWed May 29 1991 15:3618
Who: George and Michele Pagliarulo. This is our second trip. The
first time with the kids, this time just the 2 of us. We were
there for the 15th anniversary of the park and decided then to go
          back for the 20th.

    When: Jan 24th - Feb 10th

Where: Planning on staying at Fort Wilderness. Want to see the
EVERYTHING, including a drive to Sanibel Island on the west
    	   coast for shell collecting.

How: we'll fly down and rent a car at the airport. I'm still trying
to figure out how to get the best deals but we may buy annual
passes to take advantage of any special savings that they might have.

Why: This is a long delayed (6 1/2 years) honeymoon (we opted for the
house instead) hence - no kids. And yes they do remember the 1st
time - they were 12 and 14 at the time.
243.6It's OfficialVISUAL::SCOPAI'd rather be in OrlandoMon Jun 10 1991 12:3623
    Who: The Scopa Family

    When: July 10-24th (or 25th)

    Where: Carribbean Beach Resort

How: Driving down again from NE.

Previous Trips: September '75, June '76, July '90

    Why: Three reasons:

           1. As the kids hit the teenage years this may be one of, if not
the last time we can spend "quality vacation time" together.

           2. It's the only place on Earth where I can free myself of
              stress.

           3. Life is too short to deny yourself and your family a good
              time.

Miscellaneous: We're going with Annual Passports this time around...any
stay after 8 days should include these.
243.7reserv. in handHPSTEK::PASCOMark 'PASCO' PascarelliThu Jul 11 1991 11:4329
Who : The Pascarelli Family and neighbors. 4 adults, 2 children.

    When : arrive july 12 1992

Where : Carribbean and Poly. The rooms are all reserved.

    How : Driving

Reason : my 6 year old missed the last trip by 1 month. He wasn't an
    	      "official" Pascarelli yet !

Misc : This will be the second trip (see trip report from 1990) for
myself , wife and oldest son. Have only called Central
reservations 3 times to tweek the reservations since made
them 2 days ago. DIAL 1-800-mickey1......

PLANS : drive down. stopping 1 nite en-route. Using our Grand Caravan ?
stay at the CBR Sunday nite the 12'th. Move to the POLY the
next day and HOPEFULLY get a 4 day WORLD VACATION PACKAGE.
After the 1'st package runs out, Move back to the CBR and
get a 4 day VACATION Holiday package.... for a total of
8 beautiful days in the park.

ps. half the fun is planning !

243.8Phil and Nancy go backIAMOK::BANCROFTMon Jul 15 1991 15:1923
Who : Phil and Nancy Bancroft - two middle aged adults

    When : 7 days arriving 5 March

Where : Carribbean Beach Resort, reserved yesterday, asked for
Martinique, king size bed, non-smoking, corner room.

    How : Flying

Reason : Attending Soldier of Fortune convention in Orlando 13-16
March (instead of the usual Las Vegas Convention), so
decided to add WDW. "I'm going to WDW" sounds much more
reassuring than "Going to SOF to shoot machineguns in the
             desert"

Misc : This will be the second trip, first was in 1973 with 2
kids (then small, now grown). The place has grown four
times as big as then. Have 4 guides (including Birnbaums
naturally) to study. Have spend a few years in Europe,
so should enjoy the Epcot countries pavillions.

PLANS : Know the layout, know the offerings, and fly the rest with
            no specific plans.
243.9Mike and Pam going againJUPITR::M_NORTONTue Jul 30 1991 12:4326
Who : Michael and Pamela Norton - Caitlin (4), Brittany (2) age at
            time of trip.

When : Thursday after labor day til The following Sunday 11 days 10 Nights

Where : Grand Floridian and Polynesian: I am trying to get a grand plan
package to stay at the GF. But if pocket doesn't let me I will
spend first and last night at GF. rest of the time at Polynesian

How : Flying out of Boston.

Why : Five year anniversary. plus a treat for the kids

Last trip : Nov 7,1987 Honeymoon at WDW Polynesian.

I am making plans now I still have some concern about little kids at
WDW. I will be using a baby sitter every night so Me and my wife can
enjoy are self to. The kids will be able to go to the neverland as much
as they want this way theres more time for us to enjoy what we want. I
guess WDW is for kids, so we will tend to do every thing the kids want
to do during the day but the nights will be ares. who saids Married
    people aren't kids.

243.10Making it Pretty OfficialWFOVX8::BURZYNSKI_JWed Aug 14 1991 15:0930
    Who: The Burzynski/Millette Clan - definitely 2 adults/1 "junior".
Maybe 2 other adults (sister and brother-in-law).

When: July 10-27 (or 28). (I think that someone else in here has
almost the same dates planned - one of the more active noters,
if I remember correctly, who does a count-down, which I am able
            to enjoy, as well!)

Where: The reservations are not made yet (I'm just starting to work on
            that), but it looks like:
6 days at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress (free thanks to Gold
passport points, which really added up with last year's trip
              to Hawaii)
6 days each at two of Grand Floridian, Beach Club, or Poly.
(I've read all the notes on the different plans, and can't
make up my mind yet, but it will be a done-deed within the
              next week!)
How: Delta (using a free companion coupon that I'll get along with
           my Hyatt award)

Why: Because we're currently on a 4-yr. "cycle" of Disney, a cruise,
Hawaii (though probably we'll skip this one next time and do
Australia/N.Z.), and an off year (so this year we aren't going
ANYWHERE - it was time for new A/C, roofing and siding!). We
last went to Disney in 1988, so it's TIME. We will be seeing
MGM, PI, and TL for the first time!

Though I've been before, reading this file has made it clear that there
are always new things, new insights, etc. I have questions, and I'll
try to get them into appropriate notes.
243.11A CHANGE IN PLANSCUPMK::JETTEWed Aug 21 1991 18:5814
I've made some changes to my official signing in for 1992.

WHO:	Kathy, Dennis and David Jette (sone 9 years old)

    WHEN:	July 11 thru 15

WHERE:	Fort Wilderness (I've never been there)

    HOW:	Flying (no reservations yet)

    WHY:	I can't wait until 1995!

I can't wait to do my first trip report!

243.12TECRUS::JIMJim PappasWed Sep 04 1991 23:0230
Who:	Jim, Debbie, Jennifer(10), Kimberly(8) and Gregory(6) Pappas,
				plus,
my mother in law for the first week or so.
When:	End of June/beginning of July (final dates TBD)
Where:	Off site condo while my MIL is there, then CBR
    How:	Driving (first time).
Last Trips:	Jul 1987 (Disneyland Hotel)
		Nov 1989 (Polynesian)
		Jun 1990 (CBR)
		Aug 1991 (Y&BC)

Now that we are back, I suppose is is OK to enter this note. As
you can tell, we like to vacation at WDW (4th trip). We enjoy
having Deb's or my folks join us for part of the vacation and they
    love being with the grandchildren.

When my MIL is with us, we will rent a condo off site. We already
have Irvin Hunt's Sommerset unit reserved (note 177.9). Once she
leaves, we will spend the rest of our vacation at the CBR unless
WDW starts offering AP, stockholder etc. discounts for our time
period. We prefer the nicer hotels at WDW, but unless they offer
them at CBR prices, we will be staying at the "family priced"
    resorts (CBR, PO, or DL).

For the 3rd straight time, I am claiming that we will be driving
to WDW for the first time. I really think we will end up driving
this time, but we will see what happens with the air fares as the
time gets closer. If we drive, we will probably make a side trip
to Washington DC on the way home.

OK we got hooked.

Who: Peter, Barbara, Alex (16) and Rowena (6)

Last Trip. - April 91. Our first trip. We drove down. Camped (tenting) in Fort
Wilderness. Did four solid days of WDW. Drove home.

Next Trip:

Flying down Feb 14th return Feb 23rd.

I've booked 2 nights at the Polynesian (15th and 16th) but I think
I'll move that back a day and spend 2 nights at the CBR or Port Orleans.
The rest of the time we'll stay outside of the property.

	We're going:

		1) to see WDW the things we missed last time.
		2) to get away from the New England February weather.
		3) to see Universal Studios, Sea World and Busch Gardens.

It looks like it's going to be expensive. No hotel or airline discounts.
I have not looked into a car yet.

(In case you were wondering, I messed up on the dates - here's
         a corrected entry:)

Who: The Suttons -- John, Laurie, Deanna, and Timothy

Last Trip: November 1990, _just_ before Thanksgiving. "Passed

the in-laws. Couldn't miss the opportunity to stop by...
        (Other trips in '82, '84, '88, '90)

How: Most likely, we'll drive down. We're keeping our collective
eyes peeled for any airfare specials, though. (I'll be making
_extensive_ use of this file to collect driving tips!)

When: Leaving April 23 or 24, returning May 4 or 5.

When: April 23 - May 2 1992

Who: The Young family - Steve(me) Kathy(my wife) Adam(son 13) Beth(daughter 10)

Where: Fort Wilderness

How: Driving down pulling tent-trailer. Leave Thursday mid-afternoon and drive
until Friday night around 6:00. Put up in a motel wherever we are when
can't drive anymore. Then into WDW early on Saturday.

Why: My wife and I had agreed that we would not be going again for at least a
few years, because we have planned a large (read expensive) vacation out
west (Grand Canyon and surrounding states) for 1993 and are saving money
     for that.

Neighbors came back this summer and told us how great MGM and TL were and
started the itch again. We've never seen MGM, TL, or PI.

Other neighbors mentioned that they were thinking of driving down during
April vacation and my wife and I looked at each other and decided
     "Why Not?"
243.16Now I'll have two annuals, one per coast.SWAM1::STERN_TOHave TK; Will TravelWed Oct 30 1991 17:5339
    Who: Tom Stern

    When: twice, it appears.
    		4-Jan-1992 thru 10-Jan
    	and	24-Aug thru 4-Sep

Why:	The January trip is going to be with family. My parents
promised to take my niece (the only grandchild, age 15),
and my sister and brother-in-law invited themselves along.
The more I thought of it (and about how my father had once
invited himself along on one of my Vegas trips), the more I
decided that a family trip while we could all get away
    		would be a good idea.

The summer trip is in conjunction with the World Science
Fiction convention in Orlando. I have one group of friends
who are planning on doing their Disney-ing before the
convention, and a different group who are planning on going
immediately after. Being a Disney-addict (and owing to the
fact that the week before the convention will be my tenth
anniversary with Digital (Tom Stern, you have been with
    		Digital for ten years;  here's your extra weeks vacation;
how are you going to spend it? I'm going to Walt Disney
World!!), I'm going to do BOTH.

Where:	Yet to be decided. The family trip will be staying at a
Residence Inn, as my mother is diabetic and will need a
refrigerator for her insulin. The WorldCon will be at the
convention hotel before the Con, and I've got friends who
have access to a time-share condo for after.

I already know, the first thing I do when I get into the park area is
going to be to get an annual pass. I may order it ahead of time, so
that I can save a buck or three on the parking.

66 days and counting. I'd better do well in Vegas over Christmas.

We will be driving down from Maryland. Leaving on Friday May 8th and
stopping half way in North/South Carolina at Aunt's house for sleep
break (she lives right at the border). Will be following the same plan
for the trip home. Hope our trip is better than my sister-in-laws
this past August. They flew down in August. The first day was spent
at Typhoon Lagoon. Day 2 it rained hard all day. Day 3 they went to
MK. Also did characater breakfast in which her son was terrified of
the characters! Day 4 rained all day so they went to MGM. That
evening were shopping in Disney Village when her husband was
taken to emergency room with kidney stones. Got home 3:00 in the
morning and was exhausted for the MK and Epcot day. Day 5 rained
again!! Day 6 child was ill never made it to Pleasure Island for
evening. Day 7 flew home. She calls it the vacation from hell.
Unfortunately it cost them a bundle, as they stayed at Fort
Wilderness at $180 a night with tickets and air fare and didn't
even get to enjoy all that they had planned.

Last Visit: Honeymoon in May 1990......couldn't wait very long

    Major plan of attack:
    ---------------------

Leave Early thursday morning, arrive in Daytona Friday night.
Party in Daytona until sunday morning, top down on the beach!
Sunday visit to Space Center, and get to Orlando by dusk.
From Sunday night till the next Saturday morning do Orlando "things"
    	Disney and others.....
Start Drive home early Saturday morning, take Monday off to relax
assuming we make it back by Sunday night.

We plan on doing a few Disney things and few other things (like Sea World
and Universal Studios). Disney visits will probably only include
EPCOT, Pleasure Island, and River Country or Typhoon Lagoon. We plan
on taking it real slow and enjoying this one.........this is sort
of a last minute trip so we will also be doing the economy routine of
making our own lunch sandwiches and stuff so we can splurge on a good
dinner in the Hard Rock or EPCOT Mexico...

LAST VISIT: I and the kids have never been to Disney World. My wife was
there around age 10 (approx 22 years ago)

    WHY: I've never been.

This is my first reply to this conference. I've been reading it for
several days now and love the excitement expressed in the notes.

Like I said above, I've never been to Disney World. Growing up I
almost never missed the hour long Disney show on Sunday nights.
Whenever they showed scenes for the theme parks I would go nuts.
I've held out as long as I could and I can't take it anymore. I've
got to see for myself what this magic is. We are taking the kids
along because they are big fans of Mickey, especially my 2 year old
daughter. She sleeps with Baby Mickey, Minnie, and Donald. She
couldn't care less for her other animals. We have a 5 day superpass
and plan to spend as much time in the park as possible. We will
probably take a break in the middle of the day, go back to the hotel
for lunch and Brittany's nap. Then back to Disney.

I know the time we are going to the second busiest time but we really
didn't have much choice. I'm hoping that early next year my wife and
I can return for a 10th anniverary trip (without the kids).

Oh well, just writing this note has my heartrate up. I really can't
wait to get down there!! Wish us luck.

	Terry

LAST VISIT: October 1990, our honeymoon.

    WHY: Why ask why?

Mom always wanted to go, but hasn't ever been. My trip to
Disneyland last fall got cancelled the day before I was supposed
to go, so I needed it bad. My wife is very supportive of my
addiction (and I think just as crazy about the place as I am).
Dad doesn't seem to care one way or the other.

This will be our first time staying on-property. I have already
had a bad experience with CRO. I will reserve the details
for my trip report and my judgement until the trip is over.

Loved it. The best vacation I've ever been on. Went to MK twice, MGM,

Ate at the; 50's PRIME TIME CAFE (MGM) the drive-in rest (MGM), KING
STEPENS (MK), TONY'S (MK), ITALY (Epcot) and the restaurant at the PORT
    ORLEANS.

Followed Birmbaums to the tee and it worked like a gem.

Up in the morning for Beinget and coffee, run the parks, watch the
shows, sit the hot tub, fall dead asleep.

    I want to go back!

Well we did it! Because of the air fares, 4 roundtrip tickets
direct from Philly to Orlando, $588. How can you beat that?

We went last year from July 2nd through the 12th. (Real cheap
thanks to almost 200K marriott points. I would recommend the Marriott
World to everyone. Great place, but a little pricey if you have to pay
for it.) We were not planning on it this year, but we really wanted to
go because of the 20 year anniversary, the cheap air fares were a
    great excuse.

We'll be staying at the Carribean beach. We stayed there 3 years

Note of interest:
Even though we knew last summer that the convention would be in Orlando,

us to hit WDW again got cancelled. Unfortunately, we decided that we

alternative hotel they wanted to put me was also fairly up there I got an idea...
since I like a kitchen for alternative food sources on business (I like
staying at suite type of motels if they are cost effective) and we would be
going down again sometime this year...I bought an annual pass and booked a
trailer at 50% off. I just got thru making our Nov reservations for 50% off
and I can maybe get to the park an evening or two!

Usually read only - the Brits don't make good orators and
our U.K. rep (WOTVAX::BATTY - hi Mike!) seems to be doing a good job :-)

Trip report WILL be done this time.......

Thanks for the MOUNTAINS of info everyone - anyone in the World around
the same time needs any goodies from U.K. - we'll have empty suitcases
on the way out ready to raid the character wharehouse
(damn - there goes the secret).

Anyone going to Orlando soon - I would appreciate the freebie ad mags in the
internal mail (plan just isn't the same without the discount tickets!)

243.42Updated: Second trip this year (see .15 for first)FDCV14::YOUNGSteve Young DDD/M16 DTN 264-4335Thu Oct 22 1992 00:3426
Since the time is getting close I thought I'd update this. There have been a
couple of small changes in how some of the people are getting there.

WHO: Myself, Kathy (my wife), Kathy's grandmother (88), and Kathy's Mom & Dad
Kids are staying home with a neighbor.

WHEN: November 5 - November 15

WHERE: FW trailers (Annual Passholders Special $75 a night)

HOW: Kathy's mother and grandmother will be flying down from Boston on
October 31 and staying with relatives in Port St. Lucie until Nov. 6.
(They'll be flying Delta, even though I told my mother-in-law
that all of the other witches will be using their brooms that night.) B^)
Kathy's father won't fly, so Kathy and I will be driving down with him on
     Nov. 5 arriving Nov. 6.

WHY: Kathy's folks have never been. Her grandmother has been to MK before EPCOT.
Kathy's father has asthma and had a small stroke a couple of years ago so
can only walk short distances and will need a wheelchair. We also figure
that Kathy's grandmother will need a wheelchair (although I hope I have
half the energy she does when I'm that age). Kathy mentioned that
they were thinking of going down and she was going to offer to go with
them to help with the wheelchair pushing. I told her she couldn't go
     unless she took me.

When: Nov.6th-Nov14th (Holy cow that's only a day away!)

Who: the CARROLL family (Mike, wife Paula, Greg (12+), Jennifer (who
will turn 9 in disney!) PLUS my Mother & Father in-law & my
    	    25 year old single sister-in-law.

    Where: Port Orleans

Why: Kids are at a good age. November because it's too expensive to
stand in the School vacation type lines, and in our school
system next week, Mon/Tues/Thur/Fri are all 1/2 days for Parent-
Teacher conferences & Wed is a Day Off (Veteran's Day).

    How: US Air from Logan

Last Trip: a memorable one as it coincided with our last "major"
snowstorm -- Feb. '87. Spent the nite before at a Boston
area hotel so as to avoid the traffic tie-ups due to the
impending storm. Meet the other family (3 adults, 2 kids)
at Logan as they were dropped off. All flights were
cancelled, next one was 2 days away! Drove home with 5
adults; 4 kids; 8-10 suitcases in a mid-size wagon, thru
a snow storm only to find our street impassable.

Comments: I've been a "read only" noter up to this point. Thanks for
all the info. it's fabulous. I'll try to do a trip report
but can't match some of the ones I've seen!
