476.0. "Coming from France" by ULYSSE::MARTIANO () Tue Aug 22 1995 09:30

Hello

We plan a 1 week visit on October 27th 1995. We're about to book at the
Ramada Parkway but I would prefer to have your advise before doing so.
We are 2 adults and 2 kids (one 5 year-old and a 3 year-old)

If you have any tips we should know, don't hesitate.

Thanks a lot in advance for any information.

Best regards,

Olga

If you are coming from France, why not stay ON-property, that is in
WDW? Your investing a lot of money to get here, why not go first class
    when you are here?
    just my opinion.

476.2What is the weather like in October BTW??ULYSSE::MARTIANOTue Aug 22 1995 13:3510

Ed, Nice thought but as you said we are spending a lot of money
to get to New-York (hotels in NY are really expensive !) and since
we will be out most of the day in Orlando, a nice hotel room clean
etc.. should be OK ! We prefer to enjoy our stay and see a lot of
things than to have a first class hotel .

    just our opinion ;-)

I've stayed at the RAMADA (several years ago) & the Hyatt (Kissimme)
& the Grosvenor (Walt Disney World Village - WDWV).

The better hotel was the Hyatt but too far out. The better location
and only a few pounds ( FF ) more was WDWV - free shuttle, next to the
village - walking distance, nice atmosphere, etc..... Have booked the
Marriott at WDWV this October. Temperature - am told it should still
be in the 80's at that time of year.

476.4Check out airline packages from EuropeCSLALL::HOLIHANWed Aug 23 1995 20:4326
I haven't heard anything negative about Ramada Parkway, perhaps others
that have stayed there will respond. I've had good luck with on site, on
monorail route with small children. From my recent trip planning, here
    is some info:

The on-site FALL FANTASY package (ends in mid-November) looks to be a good
value. It includes on-site hotel, resort or character breakfast every
morning, and thrown in is a coupon book for discounts on dining/recreation.
They can also include park passes in the package, or you can purchase separately.

Delta airlines "Delta Dream Vacations", which is really a travel agency
called Certified Vacations that books packages, has a package now which
includes: car or transfers (you have to pick one), air, off-site hotel,
2 day passes to Universal Studios, one day passes to Wet'n Wild (a
water park) and a dinner show for 2. We may do that, then
move to a Disney resort to take advantage of the Fall Fantasy
package. We want to experience the on/off site difference, and also take
advantage of the Universal passes, only available if you stay a minimum of
    2 nights off-site.

As stated earlier, I don't have experience with Ramada, but if you
prefer to stay off-site you may wish to check an airline package -
Ramada Parkway IS on the hotel choice list, and you may get extras that
you like thrown in, depending on the packager. Good luck!

    Olga,

We're not planning a Florida vacation this year, so have fun! :-)
Our strategy usually involves getting the best deal over the phone,
booking a room (just in case it gets busy down there), and shopping
around after we check in on the first day. My wife is absolutely the
best negotiator I've ever seen. She goes right to the desk clerk and
bargains for a weekly rate that's NEVER in the AAA book. I estimate
that we've changed motels 75% of the time to get a better deal.

As the others have said, sometimes the room rate isn't the most
important thing. Look around for deals on EVERYTHING. What would you
say if I told you that I got a roundtrip airfare, Boston to Honolulu
    for under $600!

Olga,

We often choose the Ramada Resort Maingate at the Parkway for some of
our nights when we go. It's a good medium class hotel, clean, nice
pools, and a decent restaurant, and the price has always been a very good
value for the class of room.

Thanks a lot to everyone who has helped me with this travel.
Finally we have booked at the Ramada and hopefully it will
    be a nice trip.
