437.0. "Let's see B&TB on Broadway" by NPSS::NPSS::BADGER (Can DO!) Thu Nov 17 1994 13:42

I started a new note for this so that we don't possible clutter the
    real B&TB note.

I am planning to go to NYC to see B&TB on the 7th,14th, or 21st..
    I don't have a date set yet.
I called ticketmaster 212-307-4100 to check on price and availability.
these dates still have plenty of seats, yet. I plan a cut-off, buy
    tickets on nov 30th.

    The cost:
    $65,46,36,20 per seat [+surcharge]
    I plan on getting the $65 *2.

Since this is Winter, and since the seats are pricy, I will be leaving
on FRIDAY, shoppy/siteseeing sat morn, B&TB Sat night, return on SUN.
    allowance of one storm day.
    NYC hotel pricey, food pricey.

xportation: bus, train, or car. if only us, we'll use bus or
    		   train.

I think it would be more fun with more people, but my wife and I will
plan to go alone if no one else wants to go. we can pick 7,14, or 21.
we each take care of our own ticket purchase, hotel, xportation, unless
someone is driving, then share expense.

If someone real fimiliar with NYC/Broadway area, they are welcome to
put tips in here even if they aren't going. We've done trips to
See shows before on broadway but we've only gone with folks fimiliar
with NYC, we do not consider ourselves expert.

    any takers, any tips?

    Ed,

Just you? or a general package they'll offer everyone?

It sounds like fun, but we have family in Queens, so I'd save the bucks
for the room and stay w/ them... Especially since we have two little
ones (2 & 4), I can't imagine taking them to a show... Of course if
TC makes it real reasonable to stay intown maybe we'll get one of the
    family members to come intown!

At this point in time they are tayloring it toward me/my wife for an
adventure weekend of the 7th of Jan. I'll post what TC gives me.

this could be like a big WDW. if I took the subway, it could be like
the jungle cruise, ot ES elivator like TLZTW, or moma leons.....
details are filling in, lv friday from Westwood/rt128 Amtrak,
av Pen central. taxi to unk hotel in TS area. fri night hard rock
cafe, sat shop, b&tb, sun ret.
John, Since you may know the area, jump in with ideas, pointers....

    >> maybe I could campout in central park?

There is a zoo there ;-) Maybe you could join the legions of tourists
that have taken their own "jungle cruise" through there...

    >> taxi to unk hotel in TS area

This is sure to be a THRILL ride!

ANd TS can be kinda seedy too...

    >> John, Since you may know the area, jump in with ideas, pointers....

I really don't know it all that well... However, shopping and kids -
you *MUST* visit FAO Schwartz - you don't want to buy anything of
course though ;-)... it's a bit too expensive! Of course, since
it's winter and if you like skating, there's Rockafeller Center ice
skating rink.. I believe there is a Planet Hollywood in NYC too...
If you want good Pizza be sure to check out John's in the village..
Not sure of what types of things you're looking to do though...
Any good hotel will have some sort of concierge... to point you in the
    right direction...

For Digital I stayed at the Marriot Marquis - kinda nice *and* I got
Digital rates (much cheaper)... make sure TC gets those cheaper rates!
The Hard Rock is basically Mid-town and always crowded...

You probably could get the NYC tourism (whatever) to send you information

437.11update on adventrueNPSS::NPSS::BADGERCan DO!Thu Dec 08 1994 14:3313
just to update, TC brought back a price that EXCEEDS a 4day/3night
vacation at WDW. their package exceeded what I could buy al la carte.
the greatest cost is hotel [2 night] and food.
what we have decided is to delay going until April that will eliminate
the weather factor, and not require hotel stays.
    the picture now looks like
lv sat morning, afternoon B&TB, rt sat night.
the price goes down from $900/couple to around $300/couple +food.

perhaps we'll get more takers for this cost.
    I'll update as spring approaches.

Has anyone gone to a matinee? How was it? How long, etc. Is the
play too long or scarey for a 4 year old?

We are thinking about a 5 day weekend in NYC to see this play and play
tourist. (I grew up in NH, but husband has never been to NYC).

Any other ideas on what to do in November (can't do the skating at
Rockerfeller Center, I have a "challenged" child)
