435.0. "Disney info on the Web/Internet (Disney URLs)" by WREATH::SCOPA () Wed Nov 09 1994 14:20

I thought I would start a note for all you Internet surfers who use
    MOSAIC.

This note is to be used as an area for announcing Disney URLs.

Mike I tried connecting to both. I was successful with the first one
    but not the second one.

Hopefully over the next week I'll have time to explore.

435.3first is Buena Vista PicturesCSSE::VAUGHANAll it takes is a point of lightThu Nov 10 1994 18:5112
The first URL is Buena Vista Pictures.

You can go to the Movie Plex for clips of current/soon to be released films or
you can go to the Press Room for info/press releases on the movies.

I tried to get one of the clips from The Lion King, but, it took quite a while
to load and I ended up quitting before it finished.

I was not able to get to the second URL, my guess is that it is not something
official from Disney.

Given that its a Rensallear Polytechnic Institute site, I'd agree.

Disney on the internet. yes. even a home page! try

    		http://www.disney.com

It's the page for indexing their movie reviews. You just have to try
it. Its typical Disney 1+ for hyper text links especially when
    entering the lobby.

but do it after hours. graphics bound, large files. I haven't tried
it, but also movie clips! very big. even trivia tests with
    "Magnificent Movie Brain"
435.6Disney SitesWREATH::SCOPATue Feb 07 1995 18:1215
There's a Home Page on the WWW that serves as a jumping point to
some Disney sites. The name of the Home page is:

              Uncle Bob's Kid's Page

    The URL is:

              http://gagme.wwa.com/~boba/kids.html

If you slide down about 75% on this home page you will see a Bambi
graphic and about six Disney sites. These sites may have further links.

    Enjoy.

It is best viewed with the Netscape 1.1* versions. But has been set up for use
all the way down to LYNX. It includes archive listings, newsgroups (Imagine
that), park info, general Disney pages, and the spectacular lion king pages.
All of the Web pages are rated (1 to 4 stars) --AND-- have quick references to
what they contain.....

For any techo-geeks out there, construction is now complete
on our web site, where you can find information on a variety
of equipment used throughout the theme parks, plus a list
of some projects and our latest newsletter. Please be aware that
while Disney uses this equipment, the majority of information
at the site is highly technical, and not Disney specific.

Well, I suppose it would be useful to give the address, hmm... 8-)

statement about what the document is.

The List of Lists is maintained by Tim Pickett <tlm@yoyo.cc.monash.edu.au>
and is posted every Monday to rec.arts.disney. If you have any
additions or corrections, please mail me.

browsers. If you do not have a WWW browser, you can still access URLs
in the format "ftp://site.name/directory/path/file" using FTP, opening

I have tried loading all the files and must say I am extremely

the pictures are grainy and so far away as to be virtually useless.
Several frames are only a few lights visible at night.

I was looking forward to more pictures like the VR Movie.

                Disney showing its hand
                By Jeff Pelline
                February 24, 1997, 12:30 p.m. PT

                         As the Walt Disney
Company (DIS) continues to work toward a
spring launch of its online family and children's
service, key portions of the media giant's strategy
                may still be open-ended.

After all, almost nobody is making money on the
                Web, including subscription-based sites and
Internet service providers, and Disney is not
known for diving headlong into losing ventures.
Disney remained characteristically silent about its
plans, but some new cards are being shown in its
closely watched effort to become a force in
                cyberspace.

Friday marked the first anniversary of the
"disney.com" Web site, which received a major
redesign. The new design showcases Disney's
products and services in theater, cable television,
publishing, records, home video, and online, as
                well as its theme parks.

Disney's Daily Blast, which includes online games
for children, could be part of this spring's offering.
The company has already registered the domain
name, "dailyblast.com," according to a registration
service. It was created in November and lists four
                servers connected with the address:
"huey.disney.com," two from Sprint, and one from
                Cerf.net.

Macromedia could be playing a role in helping to
create the games with Disney characters. Disney
wouldn't address questions about it, but a
Macromedia executive said it was under a
                "nondisclosure agreement" with Disney and
                couldn't comment.

Overall, Disney has said that its goal is to make it
"easier and faster" to wend through its site with
features such as a universal navigation box and a
"star watch" that lets users find information on their
                favorite characters.

But the resdesign also shows that "disney.com" is
becoming more like a typical corporate Web site,
one that sells products and services rather than
                being an entertainment stage.

Analysts speculate that the change is a key move
in Disney's online strategy, paving the way for the
company to forge ahead with its yet-unannounced
online entertainment service for families and
children. As reported by CNET, features planned
for that service include animated "D-mail" post
cards, 3D virtual chat, and online games with
                Disney characters.

Disney has struck alliances with companies such as
ParaGraph International to help in efforts to create
3D chats. A deal with Starwave to help bolster the
                back-end technology is imminent.

Settling on the right economic model may be
trickier, however. For example, analysts say the
company may want to rethink whether to bundle
Net access with the children's entertainment
                products, even down the road.

Nobody is making money at offering unlimited
access for $19.95 a month, and the field is shaking
out every day. Even Disney, with all its branding
power, may have a hard time persuading members
of other family-oriented online services, such as
America Online and Microsoft Network, to switch
                over.

Disney declined to comment on any of its plans
except to call "disney.com" the first of its online
offerings. It plans to develop its full online
                presence in stages.

The Magic is Now Only a Mouse Click Away! A Site in Six Languages
                            http://www.disneylandparis.com

PARIS, April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate its fifth anniversary
worldwide, Disneyland Paris has launched a Web site in six languages, a first
for a consumer Web site of its size. Disneyland Paris Online will offer
cybervisitors over 250 pages of information localized in each language
and more than 250 visuals, providing Disney fans and future guests with
everything they need to know about Disneyland Paris. The new Disneyland Paris
site is available in U.K. English, French, German, Dutch, Italian and Spanish.

    Fun for everyone
With just a click of a mouse, surfers can visit the Theme Park, share the
excitement of the fifth anniversary celebration, explore the seven themed
hotels and discover the night life of Disney Village. There's even a special
section that's "Kids' Area" -- no adults allowed! Children can play games,
learn about their favorite characters, e-mail them, and even print a souvenir
travel journal for their trip to Disneyland Paris.

    Holiday planning made easy
One of the highlights of Disneyland Paris Online is the Holiday Planner.
This feature allows the prospective travelers to select their ideal short
break from the dozens of available holiday packages. Guests simply enter
their preferences in terms of hotel amenities, favorite Disney theme, travel
dates, number of visitors in the party and budget. The simulator then
proposes the package most suited to their needs. The request can then be
sent on-line to the Disneyland Paris reservation team (payment cannot yet be
made online). And this is just the beginning. Soon Disneyland Paris Online
will feature the Park Day Planner, offering personalized themed itineraries of
Park attractions and shows.

    For the professionals
The site also offers sections on corporate information, employment and
special areas for the press, travel trade and convention planners. The
Disneyland Paris Web site will be frequently updated with information about
events and novelties as well as up-to-the-minute practical information about
the Theme Park and hotels.

    Developed by Eagle River Interactive
The Disneyland Paris Web site was developed and localized and will be
maintained by Eagle River Interactive (Nasdaq: ERIV). The company has offices
in Paris, France, and throughout the United States. Eagle River Interactive
has created custom interactive business solutions for American Express,
Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Intuit, McDonald's, Sharp, Sony, Sun Microsystems and
Toyota/Saatchi & Saatchi Pacific. The company's Web site is located at
http://www.eriver.com.

    Disney Online now in Europe
Located on the Walt Disney Company's U.K. Web site, Disneyland Paris now
joins other Disney divisions such as Walt Disney Pictures, The Disney Channel
UK, Disney Home Video and Disney Interactive at www.disney.co.uk. Disney
Online International, which helped to develop the Disneyland Paris site, has
also created Web sites for twelve different European countries, many of which
provide websurfers with engaging information about their favorite films,
products and destinations in their mother tongues. For additional
information about Disney Web sites in Europe, contact Disney Online
International.

France Telecom and IBM Official Launch Partners
Disneyland Paris thanks official partners France Telecom and IBM for their
participation in the launch of the new Web site on the occasion of the 5th
Anniversary celebrations. Press Centre Aptiva PCs were supplied by IBM and
internet access was courtesy of France Telecom's Wanadoo online service.
