378.0. "Thanksgiving at WDW" by USCTR1::WHIPPLE () Thu Oct 28 1993 14:13

    My husband and I will be at Disney World on Thanksgiving. Will there
    be any special events that day? And where should we go for a
    traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings? Thanks for any
    advise.

    My family and I will also be at Disney during Thanksgiving. We are
    staying at the Port Orleans and I booked it thru the Magic Kingdom
    club package. When I was talking to them about Thanksgiving, they
    recommended that I call back during the first week of November. By
    then, they will have menus from the restaurants and will be able to
    review the menu selections and prices. Not sure about reservations
    but I think it depends on the restaurant.

    My fiancee and I spent last Thanksgiving at WDW. We stayed at CBR.
    Had dinner buffet at the LAKE. There was a show for 50 bucks that
    offered buffet/Dog and pony show. We blew it off after finding out
    the menu. Good time as fewer people were there than we expected.

    I hope this isn't too late to make any reservations but I believe that
    there is a restaurant in the Magic Kingdom that serves a traditional
    Thanksgiving dinner. It is located near that Hall of Presidents. (I'm
    not sure if it is in the Fontierland area) The name of the restaurant
    escapes me but maybe somone else will know.

    King Stefans Banquet Hall in the castle has a traditional Thanksgiving
    Dinner. You should make reservations either from your hotel,if you
    are staying in the park, or make it you first stop as soon as the
    park opens. This is an enjoyable time especially if the kids are young
    as Cinderella cruises the area during dinner and is available for
    pictures with the kids.

378.5Liberty Tree Tavern?VAXUUM::FARINAWed Nov 17 1993 16:383
    I was thinking that the Liberty Tree Tavern *must* have a very
    traditional Thanksgiving dinner to offer! It only makes sense! Is
    that the place you're referring to, Rose? --S

    Yes, the Liberty Tree Tavern is the place. I am sure that you have to
    make reservations early. Last I heard, the food was very good.

    Thanks,

    (replying to my own base note for future reference....)

    We were told by the Guest Services rep at our hotel that almost all of
    the restaurants at the parks were having special, traditional
    Thanksgiving dinners. The Libery Tree Tavern at the Magic Kingdom was
    having something called a "Pilgrim's Feast". We ended up at the
    Living Seas at EPCOT (see my trip report) which was billed as having a
    traditional Thanksgiving dinner, but it wasn't very traditional in our
    book!

    All the hotels on property also seemed to be doing something, but
    reservations were almost impossible to obtain unless you were staying
    at that particular hotel. We were at the Grosvenor, which had a buffet
    (with all the traditional things we'd been looking for), along with
    ham, roast beef, some kind of seafood, etc. The others were advertised
    as having similar buffets or sit-down meals.
378.8This Is What I DidSAHQ::BAILEYSFri Dec 03 1993 13:256
    We ate at the Contemporary. It was great!! We spent the day at TMK
    and around 5:00 pm hopped on the Monorail, and got in with a 10 minute
    wait. After dinner we took a siesta (sp) in Mexico at Epcot and watched
    Illuminations 8*). Best Thanksgiving I've had in a long time!!
