267.0. "What HAVEN'T You Done at WDW?" by VISUAL::SCOPA (I'd rather be in Orlando) Mon Jun 24 1991 15:45

Okay 'fess up. All those noters who have done EVERYTHING at the WDW
Resort raise your hand. Hmmmm, just as I expected, noone has their hand
    up.

Okay so what attraction, ride, dinner show, non-Disney activity haven't
you done on your trip(s) down to Orlando? Is there something holding
you back? Here's the place to talk about it.

Also use this note to discuss those places/attractions you've never
experienced but are planning to do so next time.

This note could make for some interesting reading. I'll start it off in
    .1

267.1Things "to do" next timeVISUAL::SCOPAI'd rather be in OrlandoMon Jun 24 1991 15:4994
          Okay first The Magic Kingdom...

o I've never down the Sky Ride over FantasyLand 'cause I'm not
real crazy about heights but I plan to do it next time and
video the park from up high.

o I've never done the Jets or the Dumbo ride either...probably
never will. Then again, taking video from those rides could
             be interesting.

o Hmmm...missed that show at Mickey's Starland. If the timing
is right we'll do that next time.

          Now for EPCOT...

In Future World I still need to see everything in Communicore
East and West. I missed the computer shows. I also did not see
Cranium Command, The Making of Me, and Body Wars in The WOL
Pavillion. I expect to do all these next time.

o I would also like to eat in the Land Pavillion. We meant to
eat there last time but never got around to it.

o I really did not see Germany, Great Britain, and Canada like
I wanted to so those are on my list for the World Showcase.

o I would also like to sample the Japanese and Moroccan restau-
             rants.

          And there's MGM...

          o Gee I think I did everything I wanted to do...even saw "Let's
Make a Deal....yep....but I would like to be an extra for IJ
and also would like to be selected for SSTV.

          Miscellaneous things are...

o I'd like to try the Character Breakfasts at either the Poly or
             CR.

o We've never done Discovery Island and I don't think we'll do it
             next time.

o I want to return to Universal Studios and see the attractions
which were not working (King Kong, Earthquake, and everything
             else) last year.

o I never got around to trying the Olive Garden Restaurant.

o I'd like to see Church Street Station.

o I might take in one night at Pleasure Island.

          That's pretty much my list.

          Mike

     - rented a sailboat, horse, or bicycle
     - used any of the fitness rooms at the Resorts (always say I'm gonna)

    I haven't stayed at:

    Magic Kingdom

    - Dole Whip (if I've had it I don't remember it).

    - There may be a restaurant or two that I haven't tried. If so, it
probably isn't on my list to do next time.

    EPCOT Center

    - The Wonders of Life. It wasn't open in July 1989.

    - If any of the hands on stuff has changed since 1985, I've missed it.

    - I haven't eaten at the all of the restaurants. Next time I'd like
to try the one at the Land Pavillion, Germany, and Norway.

    MGM

    - Anything new since July 1989

    - I'd like to eat at the 50's Prime Time Cafe.

I haven't been to either Pleasure Island and Typhoon Lagoon. They are
both on the list for the next trip.

Also, I'm planning to checking out all of the hotels and the pools.

Things I haven't done and am not planning on doing.

    - golf

    - tennis

    - horseback riding (my husband isn't interested)

    - Marshmallow excursion

I know that there are others. But this is what I remember.

267.6Thanks for the List!WOTVAX::BATTYWell, I wouldn't start from here!Tue Jun 25 1991 08:1639
Thanks for all the previous replies! You've helped finalise my
list for the next visit (Take-off in 5 days and 3.5hrs!!!!!).

    Things I gotta do.

All attractions (Mainly MGM) new since Christmas 1989.
Check-out all the new hotels and their facilities. Ideal
    occupation for the afternoon break.
Try some of the fancier restaurants, now the kids are old enough
    to appreciate them.
Check out some of the clubs in PI. Again, now the kids are old
    enough to appreciate them.
    Go See 'The Rocketeer".

    Things I might do.

    Rent bikes and 'discover' FW.
Ride on the keel-boats. I've done the canoes and paddle-steamers,
but Mike Fink came pretty close to Davy Crocket as a childhood
    hero!
Actually watch Superstar TV. The only time we tried to go in, I
got picked for the Ed Sullivan interview, so I've no idea what
the audience actually see. (Tell me lightning doesn't strike
    twice!)

Things I'm not going to do.

    Golf.
    Tennis.
    Water-ski
Ride Dumbo (At 6'2 and 195lbs - No Way!)

Thanks again for the lists. I was reading them, saying "Been
There, Seen It, Done It! Nyah Nyah!". Seriously, it was reassuring
that we've made the most of the previous visits, but there's still
    a lot left to do.

    Let's see...

    Magic Kingdom
    	Main Street Cinema
    	Various vehicles on Main Street
    	Diamond Horseshoe
    	Frontierland Arcade
    	Mike Fink Keel Boats
Canoes on the Rivers of America
    	Grand Prix Raceway
Most of the sit down restaurants

    Epcot Center
Probably tons of exhibits in the Communicore's
Bunches of stuff in the Wonders of Life Pavilion (Anacomical
    	    players, Goofy About Health, etc.)
Most of the restaurants in both Future World and the World Showcase

    MGM
    	Superstar Television
    	Let's Make a Deal

    General
    	Pleasure Island
    	River Country
    	Discovery Island
Hotels - we've never explored The Disney Inn, Fort Wilderness,
the Swan, the Dolphin, Disney's Village Resort
        Educational programs

Generally, we have avoided most of the streetmosphere types of
things along with the shows/entertainment in the theme parks. Now
that we've been to WDW several times we take more time to watch
some of these. We have also avoided most sit down restaurants in
the parks to save precious Disney time.

Next trip we plan to stay at Fort Wilderness and may go to River
Country. We also plan to go to Pleasure Island. While in the
Magic Kingdom we may attempt to see the Diamond Horseshoe and
Randy will probably take Nicole on the Grand Prix Raceway. We
also plan to eat at a couple of the Epcot restaurants - I want to
try Germany and Morocco. I think we'll make an effort to see
    Superstar Television too.

267.12What I Haven'r Done - UpdateCUPMK::SCOPAThu Apr 29 1993 15:2257
Well gang after this morning's conversation with fellow mod Jim Pappas
I am indeed suffering with the -itis once more.

Jim is heading towards Orlando on business.....for 5 days at the Yacht
& Beach Club. He says he'll think of me when he's going down Splash
    Mountain.

We talked about some things that he hasn't done down there and it made
me think of this topic which I started over a year ago. I checked back
at my base note and I can say that I can cross off some things thanks
    to my last trip.

left to do (that I want to do) are:

      TMK

      Do Splash Mountain at night
      Do Big Thunder at night
See Mickey's Stage Show at his Starland
Have a Monte Cristo for supper and top it off with a Dole Whip
Take in a Fantasy Faire Show

      EPCOT

Eat at Morocco, Germany, and Japan
      Ride Body Wars
      See The Making of Me

      MGM

Be an extra for Indy Jones
Be selected for SSTV and MSS
      Eat at the Sci-Fi Restaurant
Eat a Cobb Salad at the Brown Derby

      Other

Stay in the Poly (never have)
      Eat Cajun at PO
Jog from the CBR to TMK and back (Runner/Disneyholic fantasy)
      Go to the Poly Luau
Go to the top of the CR

My wife mentioned what she would like to do is just go into a theme
park and make all the shows the priority for the day. For instance a
visit to TMK would mean The Dapper Dans, Kids of the Kingdom, Diamond
Horseshoe, Mickey's Starland, Fantasy Faire, and The TomorrowLand show.

A visit to EPCOT would concentrate on the World Showcase performances.

MGM would be the short rung on that ladder with just the stage show at
the Theater of the Stars area.

Actually her idea may work well for a crowded Monday. Lines would not
be a problem in most cases.

WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME???? I REALLY CAN"T AFFORD THIS SCOPA!!

    ;^)

Hmmmmmm.... Although I spent many a night there over the last 6 years,
I still have not had a FULL day

alone with my wife in WDW.....

    that would be nice!

267.14Yet another ListWREATH::SCOPATue Mar 15 1994 18:1836
Wow nearly a year since the last reply to this note. I wasn't even
remotely planning on going before '97 when I entered the note.

Now that I'm close to 100 days I have some ideas on things I haven't
done but would like to this time around (not including new
    attractions):

          - I want to ride the Skyway to FantasyLand during "Fantasy in
            the Sky"

          - Yes I'm still thinking about Splash Mountain at night.

          - Mickey's Starland Show is also on my list...haven't seen it
            yet.

          - In Epcot see "The Making of Me"

          - I haven't tried the Wrold Showcase Restaturants in Canada,
Great Britain, Germany, or Morocco. I don't think I'll get
to try them all but I may be able to squeeze in two or three
            this time around.

          - I don't think I really got a good chunk of time at Communicore
so I'll be shooting for that this year.

          - Haven't tried The Brown Derby at MGM.

          - Gonna visit the Poly. Other than Tangaroa Terrace I haven't
visited the Poly in 18 years. I hope to drive to Orlando a
day early and get a one night special...kids will love it.

Anyone going this year who's thinking about stuff they haven't done
but would like to this time around?

    Mike

Yeah, Mike. Thinking of the things I haven't done, but want to do this
visit is one of the things that keeps me from going nuts! ;-)

I plan to eat at Morrocco, Canada, France, and Japan this time. I
*will* get to all of them - I insist!

I will go on Splash Mountain, day and night, I hope! It wasn't open
    last time I was there.

I want to go on the Jungle Cruise at night, to see how different it
might be (Swiss Family Robinson Tree House should only be done at
    night, IMHO!).

    Twilight Zone Tower of Terror!

    Discovery Island.

    Tom Sawyer Island.

    Chef Mickey's.

    Try Dole Whip!

There are many more - and they aren't all food-related! ;-) I'm trying
not to think of this too much until after final exams next week!

267.16You Can Do This Any Night You Are thereWREATH::SCOPAThu Mar 17 1994 13:3811
    Susan,

Since you are going at a great time of year, same as me, you will enjoy
the Jungle Cruise at night when SpectroMagic is running. I would
suggest you saunter over to the Jungle Cruise around 9:15 P.M. and you
will find either NO LINES or short lines.

It happened to us in '92...I thought the attraction was closed and
found a castmember HOLDING A BOAT for me.

    Mike
267.17I can't wait!!RAGMOP::FARINAThu Mar 17 1994 15:504
Mike, I think you're the one who gave me the idea to go at night! It
never would have occurred to me. Since mentioning it to Michael, he is
more "antsy" to go than ever! He's been praying for no more snow days,
because he's afraid he'll still be in school in July! ;-)
267.18NighttimeWREATH::SCOPAThu Mar 17 1994 18:4316
    Sue,

Remember to avoid the parks from 12-5. Attractions like Jungle Cruise,
Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, etc. really take on a different feel.

    >>>He's been praying for no more snow days, because he's afraid he'll
    >>>still be in school in July! ;-)

For those noters living outside New England Susan is referring to the
fact that here in NH we are digging out from our 17th snowstorm of
the year. I myself have 5 foot snowpiles at eh end of my driveway.

I think nothing short of an earthquake will force schools to close
for fear of going to school in July.

    Mike
