167.0. "TM Locations at WDW" by HPSRAD::NOGUEIRA () Tue Feb 13 1990 16:42

I'm curious if anyone has been able to use their DCU card in any
Bank Machines in or near WDW ?? I'm staying in Kissimmee, and I'd like to
be able to access cash, instead of hassling with traveler's cheques.

Thanks.

I successfully got cash from the Sun Bank ATM in Epcot Center using my
BayBank X-Press 24 card since it was on the Cirrus network. There are
other branches of the Sun Bank at the Magic Kingdom and near the WDW
Village Marketplace. I believe that DCU is also on Cirrus. You should
be able to find a cash machine somewhere in the area that will accept
    your card.

It is also usually possible to cash a check at the desk of most hotels
if you are a registered guest and have a major credit card for ID.

The DCU bank card can be used at the ATM in any PUBLIX supermarket.

Yes, DCU is on CIRRUS, so it should be ok. I'll also bring some checks.

I believe there is a PUBLIX supermarket near where we're staying too.

Thanks for the info !!

167.4DCU in Florida, not California.USCTR2::TOMYLJoel R. Tomyl DTN 297-3188Mon Feb 19 1990 21:3416
Yes, DCU cards can be used at the Sun Banks in Florida since they
are on the CIRRUS network. I tried to use my BAYBANK card at the
machines at Disneyland with no luck. I was pissed because the park
was only open from 10-6 and I had to leave the park grounds to find
a bank that took my card and then repark the car further away from
the park enterence. I lost an hour getting money.

I put in a complaint/suggestion at City Hall. I suggested that
the official back of Disneyland, Bank of America, should be on the
same network as their counterpart in Walt Disney World, Sun Bank.
I figured that I used my card in Florida, why not California? The
Guest Relations specialist, Rene, said that she would make the
suggestion. I plan on sending a note and who knows, maybe I'll
    get something out of it.

Now that I'm back....I had trouble at the Sun Banks, but the
Publix supermarket machine worked out fine.

Sun Bank ATM's worked fine for me, both at the Magic Kingdom and at
Crossroads plaza. The Sun Bank at Crossroads has a drive-up ATM, which
    gives a little added convenience/security.

This note is old, so I want to confirm... Is it still possible to use
the DCU bank card at the automatic tellers in DisneyWorld and at Publix
    supermarkets?

What about Cirrus (sp?) in general? (I have another bank card I would
    like to use too.)

    Thanks

The charge depends upon your bank. Mine charges $.85 per transaction.

167.13Has anybody used the ATM,sWEFXEM::CLAFFEYWed Nov 18 1992 16:189

I ask because when I use a ATM in R.I they charged $1.50 and
at a supermarket {BayBank}ATM they charge $1.00 {I use my
Baybank card there}.There are diffrent rates for each ATM you
use besides the ATM at your own bank. I just wondering if
anyone has used the ATM and how they {SUN BANK?} charge because
    	they set the rate.

167.14ATM chargesCSC32::B_GRUBBSWed Nov 18 1992 16:2722

standard DCU charge is $1.00 per transaction at non-dcu ATM machines,
that's anywhere in the world not just at Disney.

I think the max withdrawel is something like $300 per day........no problem
    with my bank account. 8^)

There are also American Express locations in all the parks that
will cash advance on credit cards, cash LARGE traveler's checks, or
wire money (if you get really desperate and have to call relatives
for more cash for dinner in China).

The best advice would be to take traveler's checks with you, since
sometimes the machines can fail to communicate, or be out of cash
and leave you in a bad situation. Any of the stores and restaurants
in the world will cash them when you are buying something. Make sure
you put the reciept for your checks (it has all the serial numbers
listed on it) someplace other than in your wallet so you can get new
checks if they get lost or stolen.....

I was there two weeks ago. They were taking the machine out of the Dolphin
hotel. I thought that was interesting.

The ATM's at the MK and Epcot are inside the parks. The ATM at MGM
    is outside the main gate.

The MK ATM usually has a line which moves slower than an average ATM
line because this ATM has been set up to operate like an antique
machine to fit the Main Street USA theme. It uses a slow mechanical
process to dispense the cash. The line disappears during the afternoon
    parade.

Since I took NO travellers checks on the last trip and survived totally on
a credit card for charges and cash advances I thought this nearly
comprehensive list of WDW atm machines might be helpful to some folks.
Credits to the rec.arts.disney.parks folks that compiled it...

Would a MOD mind changing the note title and putting the word ATM in it
since that is what most folks will search for when they go looking for
    this info?
