93.0. "Knotts Berry Farm" by ESASE::BENO (But I bought the last round!) Fri May 05 1989 09:40

The crew (Me wife and two sons -12 & 15 - ) and myself will be heading
from the West coast of Ireland out to the West coast of American this
August and plan to spend 3 days in the LA area. Two days are earmarked
for Disneyland and one floating day. Would Knotts Berry farm be worth
a visit? Is it just another thrill park or is it somewhat like Disney?
We prefer tamer rides (i.e. Thunder mountain Railroad is about our limit).
Would Universal Studios be better?

Cheers,
Frank

Based on the ages of the children, I would suggest one long day at Disneyland -
be there when they open up and plan to stay until they throw you out. Then I
would plan a day of general sightseeing with the third day at Universal. If
you are doing this as soon as you arrive - the next day, for instance, I would
suggest Universal Studios first. Look in SRFSUP::LA_STUFF for more and better
info.

I JUST VACATIONED ON THE WEST COAST AND I WENT TO KNOTTS BERRY FARM
AND UNIVERSAL STUDIOS. DEFINITELY SPEND YOU EXTRA DAY AT
UNIVERSAL STUDIOS. THEY WERE GETTING READY TO OPEN A NEW
EXHIBIT THERE CALLED "THE BIG ONE" THE TOUR TRAM EXPERIENCES AN
EARTHQUAKE. BESIDES THE TOUR, THEIR IS ALSO THE THEME PARK, IN WHICH THEY HAVE
ACTION SHOWS. THEIR IS A STUNT SHOW, STAR TREK (WHICH THEY TAKE
45 VOLUNTEERS FROM THE AUDIENCE TO PARTICIPATE) AND A FEW OTHER
ACTION PACKED SHOWS. DEFINITELY SPEND YOUR MONEY ON UNIVERSAL!!!!!

A couple of years ago, we made the mistake of allocating a day to
Knott's Berry Farm. For those of us who prefer tamer rides (Thunder
Mountain is also my limit), Knott's is Knott much fun. They have rides
like Montezuma's Revenge, zero to toofast in 2 seconds and a loop taken
    forwards and backwards.

Even having been to Disneyland 5 times in the last two years, I can
    easily fill two days there.

    Have a good trip!

I would vote for 2 days at Universal without a doubt, we didn't
see all of it in 1 day by any means. Disneyland was extremely busy
last July when we went with average queues of 30 mins to 1 hour
for the rides, even longer for Star Tours.

Bare in mind also that Universal is about 45 miles north of Disneyland.

I was at Knott's Berry Farm a few years ago and brought back a few of
their culinary delights, jams and jellies and stuff. And with the
holidays coming up, I was thinking some of this stuff would make for
good Christmas presents for the hard-to-buy-for.

Anyone know if Knott's Berry Farm has a mail order business and if so,
what's their number so I can get a catalog or some info??

Knott's Berry Farm has a mail order business and will ship
gifts for you anywhere. I do not have the info here at work but will
see if I have it at home. In the meantime maybe someone else will come
up with it.
