133.0. "New Yrs Carnival Cruise-FESTIVALE" by DZIGN::KELLY () Mon Jun 26 1989 14:48

    Hi!!

Has anyone taken a New Years Carnival Cruise???? A couple of friends
of mine and me (single women.....20's to early 30's) are planning
one for this New Years.........This will be our first cruise so
we really aren't too familiar with much about cruising.....does
anyone know what the weather is like at that time of year??? We're
planning to cruise on the FESTIVALE....which goes out of San Juan
then on to St. Thomas, St. Martin, Barbados and Martinique....
I'd appreciate anything anyone could tell me about the FESTIVALE,
it's itinerary, the weather in these ports at that time of year,
    etc.....

    Thanks alot!!!

    Gen-

I can't comment on the Festivale, but a word or two regarding the
    weather...

Except for the June-September period (subject to Hurricanes), the
weather is generally excellent, usually 80's daytime, 60s-70s at
night. One of my favorite things about cruising ( or for that matter,
flying to) the Carribean is that in Winter it's warm/comfortable,
and in summer, it's warm/comfortable (cooler then the NY area!)

I can't comment on the Festivale either but years and years ago, we
did take a New Years Eve cruise on a Carnivale ship, the Marti Gras.

They had a real bash New Years Eve but there was very little attention
paid to who was drinking what and how much. As a result, there were a
number of very drunk teenagers. They were picking fights, tearing down
the decorations, and throwing up all over the place. Did sort of put a
    damper on the fun.

I'm not at all sure its worth the extra bucks that you pay for a
holiday cruise for a few decorations and a bottle (or ten) of
    champange.

THANKS FOR THAT THERE DESCRIPTION OF YOUR CRUISE MY FRIEND... IT
WAS VERY INFORMATIVE. AS FOR THE ARNOLD OR THE BON JOVI TYPE, I
HAVE SUCH A WIDE RANGE OF TASTE, THAT EITHER ONE WOULD BE FINE.
SEEING THAT THERE IS A WHOLE WEEK WORTH OF CRUISING, MAYBE WE DON'T
HAVE TO CHOOSE, WE COULD ENTERTAIN BOTH TYPES!! CAN'T WAIT FOR
OUR CRUISE... SHOULD BE A BALL!!
