263.0. "Costa Cruises lately??" by USCTR1::TBERARDI () Mon Feb 25 1991 18:47

My husband and I are booked on a March cruise with Costa -
    on the Daphne.

I read earlier notes on this cruise line, where people weren't happy
    with Costa.

The itinerary looks great - St Lucia, Barbados, Antigua, St Thomas...

Has anyone been on the ship lately since it's been re-furbished?

I am disappointed that you have not had a single reply to your note.
My wife and I sailed on the Daphne four years ago (1987), and I don't
know if the ship has been refurbished since then, but it was in great
shape when we were on it.

We had a great time, the food was excellent, the compartments were
large, the accomodations were outstanding. We had a ball...

We sailed the eastern Caribbean and were in a new port every day. We
almost felt obligated to "hit the beach" in each port, and as a result
did not once have lunch aboard the ship... It was a great cruise.

We heard that this will be the last season for the Daphne and one of
her sister ships this year in the Caribbean, as she has been sold to
the Russians. The Russians bought her for one of their cruise lines.

The condition could go one of two ways... Either she will be really
cleaned up and ready for the Russians, or it will be a mess. I think
it will be in great shape, as the Costa Lines want this sale to go
    through.

In any case, have a ball and send out a trip report when you return.
