240.0. "Carnival with a longer stay" by JUPITR::OTENTI () Mon Oct 22 1990 12:00

     Hi,

I'm thinking of taking a 3 day cruise in the spring on Carnival and
will be flying out of Boston..need to know..is there a specific airline
that Carnival uses when departing boston? and also..i want to stay an
extra 4 or 5 days or so and wonder if the airlines will let me do
    that..
Carnival says they don't mind at all but would have to check with
whoever the carrier is. I don't want to take Carnival's extended
vacation package..i would rather set my own days up after the cruise..

so is there anyone who my know which airline is used most often..and
if you have ever tried to stay longer on your own without any hassles
    from the airline?

    thanks
    al

Does Carnival have a set allowance for airfare included in their prices?
RCCL allows a flat amount per person (I think it's $200). If you want,
you can tell them you don't want the airfare part of the package, get a
deduction, then make your own flight arrangements. Since the cruise
line isn't involved, there can be no problem with when or where you are
flying. We did that when we took a RCCL cruise out of Miami, then
visited mny husband's family and flew out of Fort Myers. WE also got a
    cheaper fare than $200, too.

Carnival's package is known as the Fly away package. If you choose not
to use their airfare package, it is less$250.00. I just received the
91 carnival catalog, and prices are comparable with last year.

When is the Ecstasy being christened to duty? I want a 10 day carnival
caribbean cruise. RCCL has a 14 day transcanal that sounds good. Just
writing about cruises brings back alot of great memories. Carnival was
    great!!

How was RCCL? What type of people do they cater to? Is it good for
    honeymooners?

    Hi Bob,

I've been on both RCCL (several times) and Carnival. RCCL is my first
choice. They cater to all ages and are terrific to honeymooners.

240.4I second RCCL for Honeymooners!TOEOUT::CRELWed Oct 24 1990 14:5125
I just came back two weeks ago from a cruise on the RCCL Song of
    Norway.

On our cruise, which was fabulous, there were 96 newlywed couples. The
range of ages were from 3 years old to 93 years old.

Since this was our first cruise, I do not have anything to compare it
with, but my husband and I were treated like a King and a Queen. RCCL
was very accommodating and we had no complaints.

The only thing I would do different next time would be to a different
time of year, and not go to one or two ports.

We left out of San Juan on Sunday evening, was at sea on Monday,
Tuesday at Martinique (did not care for this island), Wednesday in
Barbados (nice island), Thursday in Antiqua (another nice island),
Friday we were to anchor out at St. Maartin, but the seas were too
rough to tender out, so we went to St. Thomas and spent Friday
afternoon and all day Saturday. Arrived in San Juan early Sunday
morning. We found that by the end of the week we were getting really
tired because we tried to see as much of every island we could in a day
and then at night tried to keep up with what was going on on the ship.

So I would also recommend RCCL for honeymooners or for anyone else who
is looking to go on a cruise
