234.0. "Any way to drive and park for RCCL cruise?" by BOOKIE::MARKS () Thu Sep 27 1990 16:57

    My husband and I are sailing on the Nordic Prince to Bermuda
    in early October. We booked through Crimson Travel and were
    planning to take their charter bus from Boston to NYC, but
    as luck would have it, my husband's nephew chose that
    Saturday to get married in New Jersey. We called Crimson
    Travel, thinking they might have other arrangements for people
    not leaving on the day of sailing, but they have been very
    unhelpful.

    Our options are to ride to New Jersey with my husband's sister,
    who says she can't take us to the cruise on Sunday. We called
    about limo service from NJ, but it is $90.00! The other
    alternative is the bus, which is a good deal at $5.50, but we
    aren't thrilled about dragging all our luggage onto the local
    bus. What we were wondering is this: does anyone know if
    RCCL has a deal where you can park your car for the time of the
    cruise? That way we will have use of our car the whole weekend
    (we were going to rent one when we got to NJ) and won't have to
    go back to Boston in a cramped bus after the cruise. We also
    plan to visit my daughter in college in NY before and after the
    cruise, so having a car would be very helpful.

    Has anyone ever done it this way? Thanks for any info.

234.1Parking at New York pier MUTT::DANIELTHE ANSWER IS 42Thu Sep 27 1990 20:4714
	The RCCL broshure states that there is ample parking available at
the dock in New York for nominal charge. Not having used these facilities
I don't know what these charges are.

	The parking lots are managed by the port authority and no advanced
reservations are required.

	Let us know if you use these facilities and how well it works.

	Have a good time.

	Waiting for Dec. 8th.

234.2Plenty of secure parking!WJOUSM::HANDLERFri Sep 28 1990 16:556
    I used the parking on the pier about 2 years ago and it was very
    convenient. The price was not bad (about $14 /day). They even check
    your bags at the curb and deliver them to your cabin.

    Have fun!

234.3We've reserved a parking space...BOOKIE::MARKSTue Oct 02 1990 13:107
    We have reserved a parking space at the pier -- it's gone up
    to $15.00 per day, but I still think that's quite reasonable.

    I'll let you know how it worked out!

    Looking forward to crusing!
