207.0. "Festivale May27th Cruise" by FRSBEE::GERSTENBERG () Tue May 01 1990 16:29

    	Anyone else booked?

    	I am on my second Carnival Cruise this May, the Festivale
    	out of San Juan, leaving Sunday May 27th and I am wondering
    	by any chance if anyone else is booked on the same cruise?

    	We had an awesome time on the Jubilee and from reading the
    	notes, we should have no problem doing the same . . .

    	I am going with three girlfriends of mine and we can't wait!

207.1THE FESTIVALE IS GREAT!!!AKOV12::KELLYTue May 01 1990 19:0246
    Hi Lisa!

    Oh God!! I wish I was booked on your cruise!! But I just went on the
    FESTIVALE for a New Years Cruise with 2 girlfriends!! It was amazing!
    I cannot wait to go on my next cruise!!! Anyway, the itinerary was great!!
    Let's see.....we went to Megan's Bay Beach in St. Thomas which was really
    pretty.....the best part was when the waiter came into the water to serve
    our drinks!! Oh I wanna go again!! I can't remember the beach we went to
    in St. Maartin, but it was absolutely gorgeous......even though I literally
    almost drowned from being pulled under by the wicked strong
    undertow...so be careful!! Now, if you like a wild time, DO NOT MISS
    THE BAJAN QUEEN PARTY BOAT IN BARBADOS!!!! IT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT (well,
    one of the many) OF THE CRUISE!! Unfortunately, we didn't see much of
    Barbados, except through double vision from the party boat!!! But
    believe me, it was really worth it!!! Then in Martinique, we took a
    ferry to an absolutely beautiful beach......(topless too!!).....I was
    chicken to go topless, but my friends did it and alot of other women
    did too!!! It was kinda weird, but......the beach was definitely
    gorgeous!! I'm sorry that I can't remember the name, but as you
    disembark in Martinique, there will be millions of taxi's (Mercedes, no
    less!!) waiting for everyone, so if you ask any taxi driver about the
    beach that the ferry takes you to, they should know what you're talking
    about......

    All of my cruise memories are coming back to me and I wanna go again so
    so badly!!!!!

    I'm not sure but I believe that the FESTIVALE is alot smaller than the
    JUBILEE......and I think it's the oldest ship of the Carnival fleet
    too, but it was our first cruise so nothing bothered us......it was
    absolutely perfect, and I'd go on the FESTIVALE again in a second!!!

    Please go to the Gaslight Lounge, right outside of the casino and have
    a drink for me!!!! O.K?!! That was our favorite lounge.....I mean, we
    love wild fun, but this lounge was really nice and relaxing cuz there
    are couches right at huge windows and you can see the water and how fast
    you're going and it's just so nice!!

    Well Lisa, have a FANTASTIC time!!!

    When you get back, let us know how it was, o.k???

    Bon Voyage!!!

207.2Tell us all about it!DELNI::G_KELLYTue Jun 05 1990 16:407
    So Lisa....how was your cruise on the Festivale?? How about a trip
    report!! I'm dying to hear if you liked it as much as we did!!
    Did you go on the Bajan Queen in Barbados????

207.3Ready for another!LUNER::GERSTENBERGTue Jun 19 1990 16:5244

    	Well, I finally have a chance . . .

   	I am ready for another! I think its been about
    	three weeks and I wish I was back on the ship!
	It would have been so easy to just turn around in the
    	Puerto Rico airport and go again . . .

    	The islands were absolutely beautiful; I can't remember
    	all the details . . .first was St. Thomas, then St. Maarten,
    	a day at sea, then Barbados and then Martinique . . .St. Thomas
    	and St. Maarten were my favorites; of course we did lots of
    	shopping, hit the beaches, yes the ones in St. Maarten and
    	Martinique are nude; a new experience for us!

    	They had the shows a night, a mexican buffet, masquerade parade
    	and 50's dancing out on the deck, that was really nice and lots
    	of fun! It seemed this time there were quite a few more females
    	then males. Any of you single men out there, I recommend you
    	take a cruise!

    	We met two nice guys from New Jersey, in fact one will be up
    	here in Sept and they would definitely take another . . .besides
    	the fact that they met quite a few females . . .

    	In Barbados we didn't do the Bajan Queen, we hit the beach and
    	did the water sports, jet skiing, catamaran, etc. We needed
    	to catch up on some sleep!

    	The other thing was we had excellent audience participation
    	for the activities they planned! The Fairy Tale, the dating
    	game and the male nightgown contest were hysterical!! We
    	couldn't stop laughing, either could the cruise director!

    	I can't say what we enjoyed more. It was my second cruise, one
    	of the others it was her third and it was the first time for
    	the other two . . .we just have to keep that "Cruise attitude"
    	goin' for another year or so!

207.4Nightgown contestMUDBUG::TIMPSONEat any good books lately?Tue Jun 19 1990 18:109
I was on the NCL Starward at the same time as you. While we were waiting in
the San Juan airport to return home we met the winner of the Nightgown contest.
He left to get a drink and his wife took our a photo of him in is costume.

She passed it around to about 10 people had gave use the whole story. It was
pretty funny. When he returned the picture was safely put away and the smile
on everyones face was all that remained.

207.5Ah, yes!EARRTH::GERSTENBERGWed Jun 27 1990 19:2423

    Ah, yes, that was one heck of a show!

    Of course we took all kinds of pictures . .we came back here and
    showed them to people and they couldn't understand how men could
    dress up lke that . . .but what was "promoted" through the whole
    cruise was that you are on this ship for a week and will probably
    never see these people again so why not live it up!

    There were probably 20 or more entries in the contest . .

    At the end, they all mooned the audience.

    You also got to know the people that participated especially by
    some of the jokes that the cruise director and co. pulled, I remember
    one guy "Fran"; he walked into the disco an hour or so after the
    show and everyone clapped and yelled his name 'cause he was such
    a good sport . . .
