hi Marlaine:
i was on the Dawn Princess last May - on the Mediterrain. It was
not re-furbished then. You could not use a blow-dryer in any of
the rooms - had to go down to a special room. I was in St. Thomas
in Nov. 1989 on the Sovereign and ran into a person who was on
the Dawn Princess and she said there are now outlets in all
the state rooms to use a blow dryer. We tried to get on to
see, but they would not allow visitors. When we were on in May,
the kinks were not ironed out - as a matter of fact, the staff
was real rude - you could tell they were a bunch of unhappy campers.
Our waiter never smiled and would not bring more than 2 bran muffins
to the table and there were 8 of us at the table. If you asked for
anything, you got a look that would kill. One good thing, he got
off the ship for good in Venice, so you don't have to worry about
running into him. Hope things are ironed out, if not, if you go
knowing these things, your cruise will be fine.

| Hi Marlaine (and Cindi too),
I was on the same cruise as Cindi last May (small world as Cindi and I
had not known each other previously). I enjoyed the trip because
of the itiniary however, I agree with Cindi the ship itself was a bit
of a disappointment. Hopefully it has been refurbished because it
is not a pretty ship in comparison to those of RCCL (even their older
ships are more luxurious) and there were many problems (perhaps in part
because it was their first time sailing to Europe, not sure).
I preferred Sitmar to Princess line and many of the crew that I spoke
with were unhappy with Pricess Cruise Line's operating style. As many
others have said, RCCL is tops. However, please don't allow my words
to discourage you, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. I know if I
was offered the same deal (real good price) we received in May, I
probably would sail the ship/line again to Europe (not sure about to
the Caribbean however, cause good deals can be found more readily).
Enjoy,
Ro
