141.0. "Need "Cruise Directory" Information" by TLE::BENTLEY () Wed Jul 26 1989 17:20

Several people have mentioned Cruise Directory with its 1-800 number.
I called yesterday to get quotes for a couple of trips we are
considering for next February. The agent was very nice and the
discounts pretty good. However, I have several questions about Cruise
Directory itself, which I would prefer to have answered by noters
who have used them, rather than by a more biased Cruise Directory agent.

    Where is Cruise Directory located?
How can they afford to give such good discounts?
How reliable and trouble-free are they?
Do they deliver information and tickets on time?

I'm interested in any comments anyone may have who has dealt with them.

    Thanks.

Actually the name is Cruise inc. they are out of Syracuse New York
(that where I sent the check) We have used them for the first time
just two weeks ago when booking a March 10th 1990 cruise on "THE
SOVEREIGN OF THE SEA" and got a 17% discount (called every where
and by far the best price). Before I mailed the check I call the
RCL and question if CRUISES INC. was a legitimate and reputable
agent and they assured me that they were.

In addittion to reading about them in this file I was given a copy
of there "CRUISE DIRECTORY" A bi-annual news paper that they publish.
The issue I have introduces the agents, give you a little look
into the group and advertises there "EXTRA SPEACIAL DISCOUNTS" for
certain sailing as well as there regular discounts on most Cruise
Lines I have ever read about.

I questioned my regular agent and she mentioned that they generally
receive a better discount from the cruise line due to the fact that
they ONLY deal in cruises and that they sell alot of group packages
(you call,I call and pretty soon they have a group) which entitles
them to receieve the additional discounts.

141.4Cruise, Inc. Is a Good DealTLE::BENTLEYMon Aug 28 1989 15:2522

(Re: .2 -- I received the newsletter. Thanks.)

I have been in touch with Cruise, Inc. and finally booked with them for
a trip we are taking in February. They offered us a 25% discount,
which we felt very lucky to get as this is not one of the more heavily
booked cruises. In fact, I checked with a travel agent here in Nashua
and they couldn't offer us any discount (except a small one for early
booking). So we are really pleased. I just hope all goes smoothly as
far as getting our tickets, etc. The agent has been very helpful and
friendly and went so far as to make make special arrangements for us over
and above the tour itself (we are including a side trip to Puerto Rico).

This is not the usual Caribbean cruise. We fly to Barbados where we
get a small ship, cruise around the Grenadine islands and then go up
the Orinoco River in Venezuela. We hope to take an airplane tour over
the Angel Falls. The ship also stops at St. Lucia and Martinique, then
back to Barbados. I will post more information in a separate notes file
when we return from the cruise in early March.

I was wondering, has anyone used these folks recently? Are they
still in business? For those who have used them in the past, are they
    reliable?

    Thanks,
