75.0. "Australia - Great Barrier Reef - Queensland" by CLUE::PAINTER (Wage Peace) Thu Feb 02 1989 14:36

    Hi everyone. Thanks, Joe, for the pointer!

    I'm hoping to go to Australia in the May/June timeframe and was
    wondering if anyone knew firsthand of cruises around the Great Barrier
    Reef in Queensland.

    I do have a bunch of literature already on the way (from Jetabout
    and SO/PAC), and I have already checked the QUOKKA::OZ conference.

    Hi Cindy,

    Glad to see you here (and elsewhere)! Wish I knew about the
    Australian cruises firsthand ;-), but alas I don't. But I do
    know that the Sitmar Fairsky (which was taken of by Princess
    Cruise Lines) does Australian and South Pacific cruises. You
    can pick up their brochure in any travel agency.

    Looking forward to hearing of your adventures,

    Re: base note
    We were in Cairns for a few days. We didn't see much advertised
    in the way of cruises per say but there were an incredible number
    of day trips to the reef. These included short trips to some of
    the closest reef islands upto trips to the outermost regions of
    the reef. Also, there were a multitude of multi-day diving trips
    available.
    There must be cruises out of Brisbane.

75.3Any updates?AKO569::JOYGet a life!Thu Jun 07 1990 17:1911
    Are there any updates on sailing around the Reef? I'm planning to be
    "down under" in August and was interested in taking a cruise around the
    Whitsunday Islands (sailboat-type cruise). Does anyone have any info on
    booking something like this in the States? I have brochures I picked up
    when I was in Oz last month, but they all refer to Sydney travel
    agents.

    Also posted in QUOKKA::OZ conference.
