--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I recently returned from a weeks cruising in the caribbean, and
    I can recommend the NCL Song of America, as a very enjoyable, and
    a good value cruise. Besides gaining almost 7 pounds, we were
    very well treated, and pampered.

    The only negative part of the trip was the flight to miami, from
    south carolina, as always the airlines pack'em in like cattle,
    but all in all, we would do it again!

6.1Are you sure it was NCL?ATSE::FLAHERTYRo FlahertyMon Aug 08 1988 20:178
    I'm confused, last I knew the Song of America was owned by RCCL
    (Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines) not NCL. Since RCCL is my favorite
    line, I try to keep up with what's happening with them. I'll be
    cruising on their new ship Souverign of the Seas in September, I'll
    have to ask then about the Song of America!

    You're right Ro. Song of America is owned by RCCL. RCCL is my
    favorite cruise line also! As a matter of fact, I don't think I'll
    ever cruise with a different line! And I just got back from a cruise
    on Sovereign of the Seas - what a ship. I'll have to start a new
    note.

    P.S. -.0  You're lucky!  I gain ten pounds a cruise!

    Karen, I'd love to hear about the Sovereign, especially the onboard
    shops. My husband, 'The Moderator' is going to buy me expensive
    gifts in each shop! Hint hint Mr. Moderator.

    Thanks

6.7Back to the Song of America?VAXWRK::FEARNOWBobbi FearnowThu Aug 18 1988 20:1514

    The Sovereign is a very luxurious ship and has gotten rave reviews
    from just about every cruise magazine etc. my husband and I looked
    into. However, we decided against it because of it has three days
    on the ship and its ports of call weren't real exciting to us.
    Instead we decided on the Song of America. This is our first cruise
    and we wanted fewer days on the ship. The Sovereign was designed
    to be a day at sea ship.

    Anyway, can we get back to the topic, the Song of America? I've
    got reservations for February 1989 and would love to hear people's
    ideas about what's good and what's not. Will I really gain 10 pounds?

	To Bobbi, our first cruise was on the Song of America. My spouse and I
enjoyed it and we have been on RCCL ships since then. You will have a great
time.

6.9A GOOD SHIPBOOVX1::B_ALLENFri Aug 26 1988 02:4314
    I have sailed on the Song of America, and thought it was an excellent
    ship, the only problem now is they have taken Wilber and Leroy of
    the ship since I sailed and are now on the Sovereign, these are
    two bar waiters that are always dancing.
    If Captain Amdersen is aboard you will find him all business, ex
    a women said "good morning captain" and he replied "I know it is"
    To bad captain Sverge retired, he was known for his singing.
    He would get on the emergency brodcast to all the cabins at 6:30
    am and tell all the passengers to get up because it was going to
    be a perfect day.
    A good place to go on the ship is the America's cup bar. It has
    a Grand piano and a singer.
    don't forget to ask for the fresh turtle soup, but watch out for
    the ketchup bottles. The waiters are always playing jokes.
6.10Vernon still a bar waiter?GEMINI::GIBSONFri Aug 26 1988 13:376
    Is Vernon still one of the bar waiters on Song of America? He kept
    me entertained for the entire week. I can still see him standing
    on deck talking a blue streak -- and there was nobody standing anywhere
    near him at the time! He was the one that did the limbo during the
    bar waiters' portion of the entertainment.

    I believe the have also hijacked Vernon to the Sovereign of The
