904.0. "flow - out of control! help!" by NETRIX::"kerrison@ogmt.dec.com" (Gary Kerrison) Wed Jan 29 1997 16:33

	Hi

I'm having a few flow control type issues here.

	Digital UNIX 3.2G.

	DS90Tls (and 900Ms)

third party printers (brother hl760 ans 1260) connected to the terminal
 	servers

one of the customer "logos" issues sequences that allegedly cause
	interference with Xon/Xoff.

	so can't use xon/xoff.

I set the DS90 to DSR/DTR flow control and enable signal control.

now I set the 2 printers to DTR only (not xon/xoff and DTR) and
crank up the speed settings (baud) to force the issue.

I appear to be losing data when bigger files are used.

items are disspearing off the queue with no output when the printer
flow controls itself off (and the rest of the current file dissapears
	too!)

additionally the items vanish when the printer is off too!!

Is there anything that I can set in (say) printcap to help with
	flow control?

I recall vaguely that xs and xc might be relevant but know not what
values mean what! ( and man 4 printcap doesn't help me)

	thanx

	Gary
