1483.0. "1992 Corporate Cup Tournament" by JUPITR::LONGCHAMPS () Thu Mar 19 1992 17:01

     Hello fellow golfers,

With tomorrow being the first day of spring, it's time to start
thinking about this years Corporate Cup Tournament.

For those of you who have forgotten, I will take pleasure in
reminding you that Shrewsbury won the coveted trophy last year,
which means that we will be hosting this years tournament.

The format for this year, as in years past, will be as follows :

        * Any and all Digital Golf leagues are invited to participate.

        * A (6) member team will represent each site. I suggest at least
one alternate be chosen also, in case of last minute
          cancellations.

        * The selection process is up to each individual league.

        * The trophy will go to the site with the lowest combined 'net'
          score.

        * Other prizes, which will be determined later, will probably
include low net, low gross, long drive, closest to pin, etc...

The date for this years tournament is Friday, June 26. The first
    tee time is 10:00 a.m.

The cost will be $55 per person, which will include greensfees, cart,
steak & fries banquet, and prizes.

Now for the course..........The New England Country Club........

N.E. C.C. is located off of Rt. 140 in Bellingham, Mass.

     It plays 6378 yds.....slope 129......course rating 71.4........

I will enter a hole by hole description of the course, as well as
     directions, in a future note.

What I need to know in the next couple of weeks is which sites will
be sending a team, and a contact person for that site/team.

I can be reached at JUPITR::LONGCHAMPS or DTN 237-2466.

Even though none of you will be taking the trophy home, it should
still be a great time had by all... :-)

                                       Mike Longchamps

1483.1Change of date.....JUPITR::LONGCHAMPSThu Apr 02 1992 14:2719
I have received a few responses from people concerning the date of
this years Corporate Cup tournament. It appears that June 26, being
right at the end of the fiscal year, will effect some people's
    availability to participate.....(job requirements, etc....)

Therefore, the date has been changed to Friday, June 5.

All the other info in the base note remains unchanged.

As of today, there are 3 sites signed up to participate.......Salem,
    Augusta, and Shrewsbury.

Let's hear it from some of the other leagues out there !!!!!!

                                         Mike Longchamps

Mike, some leagues haven't even published their own rosters yet, so
you may have to extend the sign up period a bit until they get
     organized.

1483.3CC update w/ forecast...JUPITR::LONGCHAMPSTue Apr 28 1992 11:1923
To date, we have 5 sites signed up to participate in this year's
    Corporate Cup.
                     Augusta
                     Marlboro
                     Salem
                     Shrewsbury
                     Springfield

If there are any other sites out there that are thinking about
playing, I will need the following in the next couple of weeks:

            * the names and nodes of 6 players
            * USGA/MGA or league handicaps for the 6 players
            * the course rating for your home course
            * the slope of your home course
            * $55 per person

Obviously Marketing...

Sales would have have increased the temperature in order to mark it
down a bit.

Signed, Manufacturing....

A big thank you to Mike Longchamps for doing a fine job putting this
tournament together this year, outstanding job! The New England Country
Club was in great shape and very tough, especially the way I played.
I really like the idea of coming back there next year. I also like the
idea of making it a two day extravaganza. Practice round one day and
have the tournament the second day. Holding it later in the year is
also a good idea; June makes it tough to get time off when you work for
manufacturing. Just my thoughts. Mike if you need any help let me know
and I'll do what I can for you.

Mike and Balance of Team SHR,

Ditto from the Springfield contingent. The tourney was a great time
at a great course. We'll be publicizing a return there sometime in July.
Our thanks for allowing us in and we all are looking forward to next
year.
A special note to Mike.....we've already drawn straws and designated
a hitman to run over your clubs with a cart next year to hopefully shorten
some of those titanic drives.
Our only regret is that we weren't able to spend more time meeting
everyone and getting to now you all a bit more. Next time!

Thanks again and Congrats to TEAM SHREWSBURY!

Gary, Mark, Jack, Frank, Joe and Tom

Ok Team Shrewsbury, are we going to have it again this year? I think
I can round up enough SNH golfers to join in the fun this year.

Right Bob H. Count me in. Be forewarned, I tried to round up
players from our league last year for this tourney, and was able to
get a couple of players out of 160 to express any interest. Course
I only used our notes conference to advertise, and nobody uses notes
conferences anymore. Go for it though!

    rick,

I am sure I can come up with enough people, heck you and I are
33% of the way there. Then there's our partners, just about there
    now. Shouldn't be a problem.

All we gotta do is find out where and when, anybody out there with
    the answers??

It is awful quiet out there about the 1993 Corporate Challenge. I believe
NIO (Hoodcroft league) would put together a team. I also know that Augusta has
been inquiring about it; Jim Stevens wrote a note later in the conference asking
when it will be. I do remember that we agreed to have it later in the summer,
away from quarter/year end but like you I have expected to see something. Maybe
the down-sizing has something to do with it??? I don't know....hopefully someone
will put it together, it is one of my favorite tournaments.
