863.0. ""NEW" REGISTRY..." by MSEE::KELLEY (Golfoholic - club maker) Thu Feb 15 1990 11:30

When I was going through the registry the other day I found
that a lot of the entries are quite old, some from three years
ago, some of the people probably aren't with DEC any more, a
lot of the info has changed, etc. I would like to start a new
registry and set the old registry to nowrite...

So, please register here with the following info...

NAME - (including nickname if you prefer)

    	WHERE YOU WORK

AGE - (come on be brave...;-))

HANDICAP - (if you don't have one then your average round)

    	BEST ROUND

    	HOME COURSE

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT (no not those, just ones on the course)

    	TYPE OF BALL(s) YOU PLAY

TYPE OF CLUBS YOU PLAY (be as specific as you like - like club
specs - set makeup - etc)

    	GOALS

ANY OTHER INFO YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD...

    	Thanks and enjoy

	Name : Mark "Pasco" Pascarelli
	Location: Mr1-3 / E74 Marlboro
	Age	: 31
Average : running around 117 for 18 holes
	Best : 111......49 for 9
	Home : none
	clubs : Dunlap Max 357
	Balls : Maxfli

This has changed since my entry in the "OLD" registry. I used to play with
a hodgepodge of clubs and had no real ball preference. Now I stick with Maxfli's
except on those days when I seem to be finding the woods a lot. Then If I lose
a few balls I switch to the brand I am finding on those "jungle safari's".....

Memorable Moments : Watching moose cross coarse at Norway C.C. in Maine.

    Name:- Paul McSkeane Nickname:- POL.
    Based in London @HHL
    Age:- 25
    Handicap:- 21
    Best Round:- 84
Home Course:- either Ruislip or Harefield
Most Memorable Moment:- Hitting a four iron to the green 185 yds away,
losing the ball in-flight due to the sun and discovering when I reached
the green that I'd holed it for my first ever eagle.
Type of Ball:- either Prostaffs or Titleist
Type of club:- Gene should know this 'coz he's building my new set
Hogan Edge Clones with stiff dynamic gold shafts, 1/2 cord grips
Goals:- I would like to get close to a single figure handicap by the
     end of the year.
Additional Information:- I've been playing for 13 yrs now and could
play off 14 at the age of 15. Unfortunately going to University and
moving to England meant giving it up for 5 yrs. Now I'm back into
the swing of things with a vengence. When I used to live in Scotland
I was within an hours drive of such courses as St Andrews, Gleneagles
Royal Troon, Prestwick, Ayr, Brassie and Muirfield. Jealous eh?

Someday, I might do something on a wim like get my class A golf

Most memerable moment was almost....The third hole Stow South I
skulled a nine iron which flew out of my hands and stayed up
in the pine tree off to the left side of the tee, the ball
dribbled down the hill rolled up to the cup then rolled off
the right edge about 2-3 inches. Close but no bananas.
Type of Ball: Maxfli DDH II, III
Clubs: Ping-like custom made with stiff shaft.
Goal: To be able to put some woods back in my bag. After 5 years
without using woods, I decided it's time to play the game right.
I bought a driver, metal wood stiff shaft, and just practiced,
practiced, practiced. Now I just have to do the same thing with
the other woods. I also look forward to being on a winning team
during one of these Noter tournaments.

		- Consistently shoot in low 80's
		- Break 80 at least once in my life
		- Take home some hardware in this year's golf league
or at least to progress further in the playoffs than last
year. (I'm sure Alan's over sight in mentioning it was
		  purely unintentional. Right partner?)
		- Play golf in Scotland
		- Continue to make inroads on my top 100 list.
		- Retire early to a warm sunny climate & play golf.

Home Course: Los Verdes most often, or Rancho Park (private clubs are

Most Memorable Moment: birdie on 18 at Rancho Park the first time I
played it. There is a plaque on this hole for
Arnold Palmer, because in 1969 during the L.A.
Open, he took a 12 in the third round. Or was
it on the par 3 16th at La Costa, about 165 yds.
over water, stuck a 7 iron 3 ft. from the pin

for four weeks in Nov and Dec 1989 (ugh!)
GOALS: Retire in a golfing community where it is warm and I can play
everyday. Considering Hilton Head, San Diego, Palm Springs
Phoenix and Fresno(Grand-daughters live there with my son, who

any glorious moments to report. Of course,
there was that -2 yard drive I hit at Myrtle
Beach last year. (Trying to "kill" my tee shot
on a par four I put so much top spin on the ball
that it hit the ground about a foot in front of
the tee and checked back two yards. No problem,
I stepped back a little with the same club (1
wood) and smacked my second shot about 220 down
the middle. Reached the green with the next
shot but missed a 20 footer for par.)

but due to heavy commitment to softball I just got back to a
serious golf effort last season. Would like to get involved in

Well, I guess it's time to re-check in......

Keith Niskala in lovely MKO1 by the pond.
I'm 34 years young ;^) and have been in the DEC Amherst league
    for the last 5 years.
I play to a 9 handicap for 9 holes, so by using my keen power
of multiplication I'd say I'm about an 18 for 18 holes.
I've only had one eagle in my lifetime, at Trull Brook, the 12th
hole. A par 5, I drained about a 40 footer for the eagle. My closest
to an ace was on number 7 at Amherst when I hit a 3 iron to about
18 inches short of the hole.
My best 18 hole score is 87 at Merrimack GC in Methuen and I've
got only one other sub 90 score, an 89 at the CC of NH in Sutton,
    NH.
Just last week I returned from Myrtle Beach and would have broken
90 on the DIFFICULT Jack Nicklaus design LongBay club had it not
been for a 9 on the 18th hole. I shot 93! Stupid decisions cost
me, should have avoided the water at all costs.
Looking forward to playing at Passaconaway club this year with
the league moving over to there.

Having an entire family who is new to the game (wife also just

    Hi Golf Noters -

I'm brand new to this notes file, and quasi-brand new to golf ...

I played for about six or seven years, but hadn't played for 10 until a
few weeks ago. I had forgotten how addictive golf is, and now I'm
playing (and expect to continue playing) 2-3 times a week for the rest
    of the season...

    WHERE I PLAY:

    	Pakachoag, Auburn MA
    	Clearview, Millbury MA
    	Green Hill, Worcester MA

I also recently played Willowdale CC in Scarborough Maine while on
    	vacation there ...

    AGE:

    	31 (Honest !) :-)

    HANDICAP:

Like Sammy Davis, I only have sight in one eye too! :-) But
seriously, when I used to play in a league it was all best-ball
pairs with the number of winning holes counting, so I never did
get a handicap. My average was mid-90s, but I had better (an
88 is my PB). Now, due to a number of factors including additional
paunch, limp muscles, new clubs and severe rustiness, I'm hitting
in the 110s. I expect to work out the kinks on the driving range
and get back to "average amateur" range soon. My goal is to be
hitting ninety fives (max) within a couple of months.

    BEST ROUND:

88 at Green Hill Park, Worcester, circa 1979.

    MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT:

Having a frog jump out of the cup as my putt was about to roll in
(thus preventing it from doing so), on the 10th hole at Clearview
CC in Millbury, MA, circa 1975. On the next tee shot I used the frog
instead of a ball (just kidding ...).

    TYPE OF BALL:

Recently, I've been hitting Spalding Top-Flight IIs and XL-IIs.
I'm not real particular about balls - if it's got a rubber core,
and it goes straight and long when I hit it (I don't blame my
slices or hooks on the ball or the club) - it's OK with me.

    TYPE OF CLUB:

I have a new set of Spalding Futura Plus clubs. These are OK for
me; when I do what I'm supposed to do, I hit them pretty well.
These are pretty much entry-point clubs, but it was all I could get
and not risk alimony payments as well, if 'ya know what I mean.
I have a tendency to jump from hobby to hobby rather, er, quickly,
and my wife is convinced this is another passing fad which will
get left with the pile of RC helicopters and planes, woodworking
equipment, model rocket stuff, electronics gizmos, Nintendo
Video Games, etc. etc. So, in the interest of domestic tranquility,
I'v decided to keep a low profile in terms of golf economics for
now. I have an old Otey something-or-other putter (isn't Otey how
Buckwheat said "OK"?). It's got a wood shaft (ash I think), leather
grip and solid brass sand-cast head. I think it's an antique, and
I've been using it for a long time. It treats me pretty well, but
I may be looking for a new putter from Santa-wife come Christmas.

    GOALS:

Play golf and stay married at the same time :-).

I'm also eager to join a league, and if anyone has any openings
or suggestions, please contact me at WSDEV::MARKEY. I promise
I'll chop those hundreds down in no-time.

I started playing 22 years ago as a kid, but took a 21 year hiatus.
Given that my stepfather OWNS a golf course and my mother is the club
champion, it was only a matter of time before I could no longer ignore
    the game!

This is the first year I've really gotten serious about my play. I
bought a decent set of clubs, which forces me to get out and play on a
regular basis. I've started breaking 100 regularly, so I suppose I'm
on my way! I'll take some lessons once I more fully develop all my
    bad habits...

HI, My name is Gordi Rogers and haven't been in this file for a while
so decided to register since I have been schecking this file out.

I work in ASO in Augusta, Maine.

I'm 38....wish I could shoot my age for nine.

    I'm a 19 handicap.

I am a member of the Green Meadow Golf Club in Farmingdale, it is a 9
holer today but the back nine will open in July. (Course rating 65.9
    and the slope is 115.)

I just bought a set of Ping eye2 irons (2-SW) and play with grafite
    woods.

I prefer to use the Ultra ball but also like Pinnacle Gold.

My best round was a 79 at Natanis Golf course.
My worst is 132 at Sugarloaf but have gotten it back together with
    rounds in the 90's....tough layout!

I have had a couple of 79's and a couple of eagles and I guess they
were my best moments, it seems like I had more worst moments then good
ones....like being par after 8 holes and scoring a 9 on the nineth....
    yech!

I am the president of the DEC League here at ASO, so if you would like
to know anything about our league feel free to contact me at
    DNEAST::ROGERS_GORDI or DTN 271-6692.

    Hit'em straight.

hi,
this really doesnt resemble an intro note--but there was no other to write in,
so- hello everyone!

I've just started to get interested in Golf due to my spouse really loving it,
so this is my first check-out of the file. WOW what a file, huge and jammed
with info!

I'll be catching up..

oh, some info: We are located in Southern NH, we play the public courses around
like Amherst, Buckmeadow, Ponemah (how DO you pronounce that?). We've played
all over like Maui (Kapalua Bay & Kanapali), Orlando (Buena Vista pro), Monterey
(Pebble). My spouse is very serious, and has attended Stratton Golf academy.
I was a watcher then, but now want to get serious.

Spouse (Jim) plays Wilson Staffs..I have some bogus beginner womens clubs and
I have to laugh that I think they have some dumb name like "princess" on

I've been reading in here for a while, so I guess it about time I let
you all know I'm here. I have just recently took up the game and can't
understand why it took me so long, this is a great game. I played about
5 times last year, and some friends suggested I should take some lessons
before I formed bad habits. I took some group lessons sponsored by the
county (10 lessons for $28.), and am looking to take some more from the
same pro. I try to play at least once a week, or at the very least get
to the driving range if I can't play.

don't practice, and I don't play alone. I enjoy the outing, the
company, and occassionally like to compete. I've been a "bogey"
golfer for about 12 years now, and I only start to get back into
the low to mid 80's when I play frequently (once a week). I enjoy
playing golf with my wife. I started playing about 27 years ago,
when I was 13......I quit at age 15 and started again at age 25.
Broke 90 for the first time at age 28 after reading an interesting
book full of strategies and great advice on "headset" and low vs
        high risk shots.

Mike Leary, new Nashua resident. Currently just under 30 years old
and in my first year of golfing. I like playing just about anywhere
but I'd have to say Whip-or-will is my home course. My FAVORITE course
so far has been Richter Park in Danbury, CT (it was great except for
the marshal that kept on my kiester all afternoon)(it wouldn't have
been so bad except his attitude and approach were very gruff instead
of politely pushy) I have a set of hand-me-down Bruce Crampton
something-or-other irons and a joke of a putter and just snagged two
Taylor-mades from Bob Malay. My rounds lately are coming aroung quite
nicely since watching and practicing BOB MANN'S AUTOMATIC GOLF video
techniques. I have been under one hundred twice 99 and 98 and the
only other 18 I played was at Richter (64 - 51) My goal this year is
to break 90 and work on sand saves. If anyone can put really well and
wants someone to get you there in regulation I'M YOU MANG!

course and walked in without a word. We bogied the
hole and played in at par. As far as we could tell
the double strike was shot+2 strokes+a two stroke
penalty for "touching the ball". Totals 1 swing
                     5 shots.

Home C - Not a member of any club, but play at many locally.
Memorable moment - Many, but to recall one was when I was playing my
brother-in-law and we bet a pint of beer on the longest
drive on this par 4. He went first and hit a screamer
AND got a lucky bounce off a stone or something similar
on the edge of the firway. There was no way on earth
I was going to beat that so I had no choice but to
try and take the skin off the ball. Ofcourse I
duffed it and the ball never got more than 6 inches off
the ground. Before it stopped, a dog ran on the
course, picked up my ball and ran off down the
firway. The owner shouted and the dog dropped my
ball about 10 yds past my brother-in-laws.. Yes!
