2096.0. "British Open sites" by PCBUOA::DOONAN () Mon Jul 22 1996 16:54

This one came up over the weekend.

How many different sites does the British Open play at? I've come up with the
following:

Royal Lytham & St. Anne's
Royal Birkdale
Royal St. George's
Troon
Carnoustie
Muirfield
St. Andrews
Turnberry

Did I miss any?

Also, is it a strict rotation of these sites, meaning that each course is the
host every eight years, or are some of the courses the host more often?

	I think St. Andrews gets to hold the open every 5 years. All the others
	are in a pretty even rotation except Carnoustie which has been skipped
	over lately but is trying real hard to get back in the rotation.

 The British Open? What's that? Isn't it just called "The Open", being the first.
