1945.0. "Literature/Book: Golf Physics & Golf Practice" by MINNY::KUHN () Wed Sep 07 1994 12:47

    Hi

    I'm looking for a book about golf physics or a book that tells at least
    in some chapters about golf physics (ball impulse, momentum, power
    transfer mechanism, flight path, etc.). Does anybody know if there is
    existing literature about this topic?

    P.S. Any new books (first edition 93/94) around about Golf practice?

    Thanks,

    Wilfried

    there's a book called (I think) "The Search for the Perfect Golf Swing"
    that's supposed to be really technical. Can't remember the author,
    but I believe it's still in print....

    There was book called "The Golf(ing?) Machine" - don't know the author
    but I believe Bobby Clampett based his game on it. Always reminds me of
    the adage "Analysis causes Paralysis" though.
1945.5Homer Kelley, I think ?GVPROD::ALBINO::DAWKESCompuserve 100025,2367Thu Sep 15 1994 06:1011
The Golfing Machine was written by Homer Kelley (I think - I have a copy at home).

The book breaks down the swing using engineering principles and hence explains how to
get more power etc. Not being an engineer I found it very difficult to read, understand,
or apply to actually playing golf.

I strongly recommend that you get a look at it before parting with any $$s. If it works
for you, great ! However, it may just as easily lead you into the trap of over
analysing, as you suspected.

    re .3

    I ordered the book "The Physics of Golf" (took 1 month to ship it
    overseas). It is exactly what I was looking for; gave me just the
    "physical answers" I was looking for.

    Thanks for all your replys!
