1913.0. "myrtle beach update?" by ACS101::HACKMAN () Fri Jun 24 1994 18:25

We're planning a vacation in Myrtle Beach in early August.

Any recommendations for courses that would be good for me, an
occasional player and my 14 yr old son. In other words, an open
layout that will get us ready for a more challenging course. Of
course, any layout can be a challenge for me! I've read most of the
notes in here and got some good ideas for that "challenge".

Thanks for any suggestions

Try Robbers Roost & Gator Hole. Nice courses, not too
tough. If you want plantation scenery from the Ole
South, check out Heritage Plantation. Beautiful
course, old fashion mansion club house.

I would suggest not going to Robbers Roost. I have played there 3
times each at different times of the year. The course was in horible
    condition each time.

Oyster Bay is my favorite. Others I liked are:
    The Witch
    Heritage
    Heather Glen
    Pearl West

We go each spring and play 7 - 10 courses. The above continually show
up on our "let play it again" list.

Let me know if you are interested in others.

Re. -1
Wouldn't Oyster Bay be too challenging for a 14-yr old who is just learning?
I last played there 3-4 years ago, but all I remember about Oyster Bay was the
postage stamp-size island green par-3. I should. I lost about 6 balls there.

Wasn't the rest of the course kind of narrow? I can't remember for sure.
