There's a note on this somewhere. New head, new shaft. Much nicer
    (IMO) than the Zings.

The best price I've found so far is in Auburn at the New England Golf
Supply II. I believe the price Quoted to me was $600.00-$609.00 for the
full set of irons. I didn't price any drivers.

For those of you in NH, I saw a couple of sets at Green Meadow for
    $575. Nice price.

Surprisingly, Ping is not marketing the club on the strength of the
new Zing 2 shaft, but rather the change in the head design. The shaft
was designed to feel somewhere between steel and graphite. I'm amazed
that Karsten is even making the original Zings considering how superior
    (IMO) the new clubs are.

1888.7 What is new PING2 metal shaft?ATEIS::MILLERThu May 05 1994 19:5113

Does anyone know if the new PING ZING2 metal shaft is close
to anything available to the customer club maker. The previous
ZZ-Lites were supposedly close to the True Temper TT Lite in a
flex pattern between R&S. Also, supposedly, PING dropped that
shaft due to the softness of the tip combinded with the weight
of the PING head occasionally and higher swing speeds combining
to cause the heads to torque/flatten out in the swing resulting
in some shafts breaking. This new shaft has about the same kick
point but is a bit tip stiffer. Does anyone know who the new
shaft is made by? True Temper? Apollo? ??

ZING 2 shafts are made by True Temper. Don't know if they are available
to club makers or specific to Ping. If I were Karsten, I would certainly
    make sure they were exclusive.
