1882.0. "Myrtle Beach Tragedy" by SOLVIT::JNELSON () Thu Apr 14 1994 17:32

    A group of us just returned from a week at Myrtle Beach. Absolutely
    wonderful weather and all the courses were in very good condition. We
    played Marsh Harbor, Legends-Moreland, Tidewater, Wild Wing-Avocet,
    Brick Landing and Eagles Nest.

    The radio reported a tragic story of an altercation that developed on a
    course on Tuesday. One golfer hit another in the face with his 5 iron.
    The injured player hemorrhaged and DIED on the way to the hospital.
    After getting over the shock of the event one of the guys in our group
    observed that the assailant probably used.......too much club.

    I don't know if the act was intentional or accidental.

    A just as bizarre incident last week at Hickory Hills CC in Mass where a
    golfer was hit with a .45 caliber slug. The golfer had just put on a
    heavy wind jacket. The slug penetrated the jacket, knocked down and
    bruised the golfer. The nearby Methuen Rod and Gun Club was the expected
    source of the slug. A number of .45 shells were found at the Club by the
    police.
