Green Meadow South and North courses are open today. I drove up at
lunch and the place was PACKED with lots of happy golfers.

Hopefully, tomorrow's weather forecast won't put a damper on this
    Saturday.

Out of interest could you explain why and for how long the courses
have been shut in this area ?

Has it been exceptionally bad weather or is it regular. My US Geography
is not that good without a Map in front of me.

In Southern N.H. the courses closed at the end of November/start of
December due to cold weather and ice forming on the greens and grass.
As you can see, they are opening just this week.

This past Winter has been one straight from hell. It was quite cold,
starting last December, with lots of snow and ice storms all through the
season. (I think the total was something like 20 storms.) It was a
    rather unpleasant Winter in N.E.

But you would probably see a different observation in the SKI notes
conference. 8^) I don't ski, so without a doubt, this winter
        was the pits.

    re: .8

I did lots of X-Country Skiing this New England winter. But, I did also
have an even stronger urge to play Golf. I satisfied that urge by driving
South from Massachusetts to Virginia in mid-March and played Golf for five
consecutive days. note: I rented a Condo that was about one mile down
the road from the famous Kingsmill (a.k.a. PGA/Budweiser) course.

Skiing,,,,, How did we get on that??

I used to ski,,but i like golfing a lot better!
There's nothing like hitting that sweet spot with the driver and
just watch it go. I feel like Reggie Jackson hitting the long ones
in the Stadium. Now thats what i like about golf.

Thanks for the weather details, it sounds like a nightmare for golfers.

How long does it take the fairways and greens to recover after the snow
has gone ? it must get very compacted.

I assume the rest of the year is good ?

In the uk we get cold rain in the winter and warm rain in the summer,
but normally a good course will be open most days in the year. Snow in
the south is rare if it comes it lasts about 2 hours.

You guys have some catching up to do (like 3 months), happy golfing.

It must mess up the handicap system ?

The more I think about it the more I appreciate all the rain we get

    BTW Its raining, but playable.
