1857.0. "Desperately seek a golf green" by MSE1::HOWES () Tue Mar 22 1994 11:52

Fellow Lads and Lassies of the great old game,

Because we can't take any more winter, a group of us are
in desperate need to "whack the old white round thing" this
	weekend.

We called the Cape Cod country club, but they were already
booked until 2:00 PM, which wouldn't leave enough time
to get in a full 18 holes, especially on a crowded course.
Does anyone know of any other courses within a two hour ride
from Maynard that may be open this weekend. Preferably (we were
hoping) one that is just North of Cape Cod.

Because we are desperate, the conditions don't matter, i.e.
snow still on the ground, temporary greens, muck to our ankles,
and even the bar not being open would not be a deterrent to
	us making the trip.

		Thanks, desperately seeking green, /jack

I played Bay Pointe (near Onset Bay in Wareham) last Wed. and was pretty
impressed. All greens (-1) were open and all tees. Some long par 4's but
some really short ones too. Long par 3's. Last exit before Cape (exit 1 off
25 I think).

    Bob,

Thanks for the note. They were already all booked up for Saturday.
They take tee times four days in advance, i.e. started first thing
this morning. When I called, about 2:00 PM they were already
booked. It's too bad, because I played there about three years
ago, enjoyed myself, but I couldn't remember the name of the place.

    			again thanks /j

I called Quashnet Valley this morning at eight sharp and got the Pro as
he was walking in. I was lucky, I got the last time they had available
for Sunday, 11:57 a.m. At least I will get in just before dark!

    				SUCCESS (at last)

Owing to the fact that I hate to leave a story without an ending
we finally had success. After many calls to many places we were able
to book two back to back foursomes at North Hill C.C. in Duxbury
for this upcoming Saturday. According to the Management, the course
may even be dry enough to allow the use of carts. Which will make
the round even more pleasurable. After all, I hate lugging around
a golf bag with the extra weight needed for a twelve pack of favorite
beverage. Now that close to the cape is open I can only wonder when
    Stow-Away will be opened?
