1848.0. "1994 EARLY SEASON COURSES?!" by STOWOA::ODIAZ (Octavio, Dev. Suppt. Svcs - MCS/SPS) Mon Mar 07 1994 13:16

Here I go, the nice warm weather of this past weekend got my golf
blood pumping hard, so it's time for the early season chase!

Does Anyone know about any course open in the cape? I called
Cranberry and New Seabury and they won't open for at least one week.

Last Friday I called the 800 golf number and they told me that Hyannis
CC and Round Hill CC were the only courses that were playing regular
greens. So I went down yesterday morning. Got off at 7:15, birdied the
first, took an 8 on the second, aand continued for a rusty 49 on the
first nine, no preferred lies either. Second nine went better and
except for a triple (lost ball) on a par three, shot 40. After which I
went in to the clubhouse, looking at the long line at the first tee and
asked if I might play some more. The Pro said that there was a
threesome on the tee and to go on out. Grabbed a cup of cofee and teed
off at 11 :25. During the second round I could feel the fatigue, both
physical (I was walking and toting) and mental. In addition, it became
very windy. Shot a 44,46 the second time around. I was very tired, cold
(feet were wet) and very happy with the way I played especially since the
last time I played was the day after Thanksgiving. Can't wait until next
weekend, I hope the weather is decent.

this describes the typical sailing experience pretty well... maybe
you should consider adding another summer sport. ;)

I just heard that the Cape is supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow
tonight. Bummer!!! Welcome spring. Last weekend playing down the Cape
was a terrible tease. Well, maybe mother nature will compensate us this
summer and fall with some great golf weather.

As a matter of fact Rich, I have taken to hitting it off the tee
on any hole under 375 yds. It goes right down the middle anywhere
ffrom 210 -230 depending on the wind. I can hit the driver or 3 further
but with much less accuracy.
Forget the weather !!! It has dropped all the way down to 68 today !
I may have to wear long pants this afternoon .
