1814.0. "Golf Illustrated R.I.P." by ISLNDS::LEBLANC_M () Thu Dec 09 1993 13:47

Back in May I subscribed to Golf Illustrated. I stopped
getting the mags after the Aug issue. Around the beginn0ing of
Oct I called the customer service line and was told there
was a holdup on the printing and that they would add another
month onto the end of the subscription. They also told me
that the OCT issue would be late. I kinda forgot about it
for a while, being hockey season and all.

Today I tried to give the customer service another call
and it is out of service, so I called another number I found in
book and was told that the mag has gone out of business! Doesn't
that just figure... I break down and subscribe for a year and
only get 4 issues out of it!

I'd like to know who else might has been ripped off and if they
have tried to get any type of reimbursement.

Surely I'm not the only one who got taken on this one!

So THATS what happened to my issues. I thought my subscription had run out.
Its a shame. It was my favorite golf mag. - long on articles, instruction,
and pictures; and short on ads (re topic on ads in golf pubs).

Same thing happened to them before. Then someone came along and bought it.
They changed the format (for the better I thought), and things seems to be
going good. Guess they couldn't beat the market share of the 'big two'.
Thats what happens to pubs who don't put in much advertising and want to
concentrate on content. Just another 'little guy' stamped out while trying
to produce a quality product.
