1807.0. "Billy Club / Wild Thing Driver discussion" by MROA::VARLEY () Tue Nov 16 1993 16:34

     I heard recently about a "new" driver called "The Billy Club," which
    supposedly produces spectacular results for average golfers. I don't
    have any specs - all I know is that it's available for WELL under $100
    from "Sam's Club" (the Wal-Mart warehouse store). I haven't seen one.
    Anyone know anything about this unit ?

1807.1How about the Wild ThingUNYEM::HOVERBob Hover, UNY SalesTue Nov 16 1993 19:234
    Sam's Club has the 'Wild Thing' driver. I have not seen the Billy Club.
    The Wild Thing sells for less than $50.

    Maybe they call it by different names in different parts of the
    country, Bob. What kind of head and shaft does the "Wild Thing" have?

    When I took a look at them, I noticed that there was no marking on the
    shaft to denote Stiff or Regular stiffness. Next time I at Sam's I
    check it out a little closer.

    I was wondering about whether they had graphite shafts, metal heads,
    etc. ?

    it would help if this note was named 'billy club'.
    anyone who might be looking for information on
    the billy club would never find this note.

    I almost bought the "wild Thing" at Sam's but opted for the a similar
    club at Nevada Bob's. The wild thing has a graphite shaft, there is no
    other markings on the shaft but it feels like a regular shaft. It has
    a metal head, if I remember correctly the loft is 10.5. For the price
    of $39.95 its not bad, however don't expect it to change your game! I
    didn't buy it because it seemed to have a hook face to it.

    As I said earlier I bought a club this week at Nevada Bob's that I
    think as close to the Bertha as I have seen for only $99. It
    has a metal oversized head, comes with stiff or regular graphite
    low torque shaft. It is made by Tommy Ammor golf. I will be trying it
    out next week in Florida, I will let you know if I still like it as
    much when I return.

1807.7Sam's has both nowFAIR08::DUNNINGWed Dec 08 1993 15:5211
    I was at Sam's Club last week and they had both, "The Billy Club
    1,3,5,7" and the "Wild Thing Driver" with a sign stating that they
    would have "The Wild Thing" in 3,5,7 in Mid December.

    I'll stick with my Taylor Made System 2 Midsized........Thank You.

    Besides, I like to go to Whirlaway in Methuen and try out a product
    before I "Waste Potential Greens Fees".
